Job Description

Role overview:

FRP Advisory is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director in the Restructuring Advisory practice in our London office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in restructuring advisory services, with extensive experience in a professional services environment. The role will primarily focus on distressed advisory work, such as contingency planning engagements, options analysis, cash flow reviews, and monitoring and critical cash management. The role will also require knowledge and experience of UK insolvency processes and, where required, an ability to take a lead role on insolvency appointments.

This role requires a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to managing complex restructuring situations and providing exceptional client service. The role will be hands on, the candidate will need to be confident report writer and financial analyst as well as being accomplished at managing and developing less experienced team members.

The candidate should be prepared to input into the growth strategy of the Restructuring Advisory practice, including contributing to publications, marketing collateral, and business development strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Restructuring Advisory Services

  • Lead and manage restructuring advisory projects from inception to completion
  • Where required, perform a senior role on insolvency engagements with a focus on strategy and operations
  • Build and sustain excellent relationships with clients, establishing both a rapport and trust and assume ownership of client relationships
  • Be a first point of client contact
  • Focus on pre-appointment advice, with involvement in formal restructuring processes as required
  • Experience of delivering both mid-market and larger scale assignments, with ability to quickly understand complex group structures and situations, prioritising key issues and delivering insightful analysis and recommendations. In most cases this will involve reporting directly to partners and clients
  • Conduct financial analysis and report writing for partner review
  • Review work of junior team members, providing guidance and close supervision in more complex areas or where team is less experienced
  • Develop and present strategic recommendations to clients

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction
  • Support the senior Restructuring Advisory team in business development to enhance FRP’s profile in restructuring advisory matters
  • Lead on preparation and support on delivery of pitches and presentations to potential clients
  • Support Restructuring Advisory directors in targeting and retaining key clients and work providers
  • Actively cultivate a wide network of professionals and corporates from which to generate leads and client work
  • Act as a representative of the firm and department at events
  • Identify new project opportunities and support partners to deliver the Restructuring Advisory team strategy

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor the junior restructuring advisory team in London
  • Collaborate with other FRP pillars and offices to leverage expertise and resources
  • Ensure compliance with local and international regulations

Qualifications

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in restructuring advisory
  • Experience with CVAs, Restructuring Plans or Scheme of Arrangements 
  • CII qualification is preferred, but not a requirement
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Skills Required

  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Extensive experience in restructuring advisory
  • Knowledge and experience of UK insolvency processes and ability to lead insolvency appointments
