Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Team Management:

    • Lead, manage, and supervise a multidisciplinary team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and therapy assistants.
    • Oversee hiring, training, and evaluating rehabilitation staff to ensure high standards of clinical care.
    • Schedule and manage staffing to meet patient needs and maintain a balanced workload for the rehabilitation team.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, professional development, and patient-centered care.
  • Patient Care and Clinical Oversight:

    • Oversee the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans for patients based on their medical diagnoses, functional needs, and therapy goals.
    • Ensure that therapy services meet the specific needs of patients, including those with physical, cognitive, or speech impairments.
    • Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and ensure the highest standard of rehabilitative care is provided.
    • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive patient care and treatment plans.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to rehabilitation services.
    • Implement and monitor quality assurance initiatives to improve patient outcomes and maintain accreditation standards.
    • Prepare for and participate in audits, inspections, and surveys by regulatory agencies to ensure that rehabilitation services meet all necessary guidelines.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient treatments, progress, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with facility policies and regulations.
  • Program Development and Improvement:

    • Develop and implement rehabilitation programs that meet the needs of patients and align with facility goals.
    • Stay informed of industry best practices, new technologies, and advancements in rehabilitation to continuously improve the quality of services.
    • Identify opportunities to expand or enhance rehabilitation services and implement innovative approaches to patient care.
  • Budget and Resource Management:

    • Manage the rehabilitation department’s budget, controlling costs while maintaining high standards of care.
    • Monitor the department's financial performance, including billing, insurance claims, and reimbursements for therapy services.
    • Ensure appropriate allocation and utilization of equipment, supplies, and other resources to support effective therapy services.
    • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to maintain necessary therapy equipment and supplies.
  • Resident and Family Communication:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for residents, patients, and their families regarding rehabilitation services, care plans, and progress.
    • Address any concerns, questions, or feedback from residents and families with professionalism and empathy.
    • Provide education and support to patients and families about therapy goals, exercises, and strategies for continued progress after discharge.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's degree is required. 
  • Licensure: Must hold an active license for Physical Therapy, Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Speech Therapy.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of clinical experience in rehabilitation therapy, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • In-depth knowledge of rehabilitation practices and standards in healthcare settings.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
    • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and rehabilitation software.

Skills Required

  • Associate's degree
  • Active license in Physical Therapy, Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Speech Therapy
  • Minimum 5-7 years clinical rehabilitation experience
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory or leadership experience
