You will be the senior marketing leader for Oxford Nanopore in the APAC Region, responsible for shaping the regional strategy for market growth, product adoption, and brand impact of our sequencing technology portfolio reporting to the VP of Marketing. 
This is both a strategic, and hands-on leadership role, combining deep understanding of genomic sequencing markets with the ability to design, lead, and deliver integrated marketing programmes that accelerate commercial success in the region.  

Key responsibilities:

You will be aligning global marketing strategy and initiatives with regional priorities to create a cohesive regional strategy and implementation through regionalised programs, campaigns and events, ensuring global positioning is effectively localised to meet market and customer needs. 
Your role includes managing a small but effective team of regional marketing managers, regional budget, and advocating for the regional needs throughout the organisation. You will also work cross functionally with the global marketing teams (strategic and operations) and collaborate closely with regional sales and commercial leadership to ensure that marketing is a growth-engine for the region, with measurable impact on pipeline and adoption. 
You will be willing to travel 30-40% primarily within the region.

Main duties:

Regional Marketing Strategic Vision → Marketing Operational Success 

  • Strategic Vision: Define, develop and implement regional marketing strategies that align with the overall business goals and drive growth in the region. 
  • Translate regional market trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights to inform global marketing decisions, product roadmap and optimise local strategies including regional enablement. 
  • Lead the company’s new product launches in the region and upsell strategies for on-market solutions; design omnichannel campaigns (including digital, partner, events) tailored for the region. 
  • Oversee and drive integrated and innovative marketing campaigns and events that differentiate the brand and contribute to the sales opportunity pipeline. 
  • Identify and oversee the implementation of marketing initiatives through the execution of campaigns, events, and regional projects to drive business growth. 
  • Own regional marketing budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources with clear return on investment. 
  • Partner with the Regional Commercial VP/GM as well Strategic Marketing leadership to jointly deliver revenue objectives through marketing pipeline-building initiatives with developed data-driven insights on regional customers and behaviour, applications and market segments. 
  • Partner with regional sales and channel partners to build marketing-driven pipeline, enable adoption of global tools, competitive messaging, and localised campaigns to accelerate adoption. 
  • Represent as a senior marketing voice at major regional conferences and customer-facing events.  

Team Leadership  

  • Lead the regional marketing team (Associate Directors/Managers) in building a high-performing, collaborative, data-driven culture. 
  • Act as a senior member of the regional leadership team (matrixed with global and regional functions), participating in business planning, budgeting, forecasting and cross-functional collaboration. 
  • Establish and monitor key marketing metrics and report results to regional commercial leadership and global marketing leadership.
  • Ensure global cross-functional collaboration with regional counterparts across EMEAI and AMR.
     

Support Sales and Key Commercial Channels

  • Deliver global and regional-focused sales trainings and programmes as appropriate.
  • Regular training and support of regional channel partners, implement marketing channel partner initiatives on regional level. 
  • Work with the central marketing team, provide local competitor information with a set of sales tools that help regional sales teams to position and sell the company’s product portfolio.
  • Support the creation and/or the delivery of marketing materials/collaterals (digital and print; English and/or translated) as appropriate in the region. 
  • Support sales by attending customer meetings and presentations as appropriate.
  • Partner with thought leaders to design and manage collaboration opportunities that support our commercial goals
  • Setting, communicating and maintaining timelines and priorities, including expectation management on multiple projects.
  • Any other duties as might be required within the remit and responsibilities of the post.

Key requirements:

  • Advanced degree in a biological sciences discipline (MSc/PhD preferred). MBA advantageous
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing experience in the life sciences/genomics sector, including at least 3-5 years in a senior regional marketing/segment marketing leadership role supporting multiple countries/territories. 
  • Proven track record of defining and executing marketing strategies that deliver measurable commercial growth.
  • Deep knowledge of genomic sequencing or adjacent life science/biotech market segments (research, translational, clinical, applied) and commercial dynamics, including channel partners, KOLs and local networks/consortia.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication skills, with the ability to translate strategy into action, guide a team, and influence across functions to drive execution.
  • Demonstrate experience in leading teams, managing budgets, operating in a global or matrix organisation, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders. 
  • Strong commercial acumen; proven ability to work hand-in-hand with sales leadership and channel partners.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation/CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), campaign analytics/data-driven decision-making (e.g., KPIs, reporting, ROI). 
  • Strong project management skills and a passion for driving activities to a high-reaching timescale.
  • Comfortable travel up to 30-40% within the region.
