The Role

The Director, Field Marketing, will be responsible for all Field Marketing activities in North America. The person in this role will act as a liaison between Marketing and the regional sales teams to build alignment and achieve regional business goals and revenue targets. The Director, Field Marketing in partnership with the digital marketing team and the events team, will ensure required marketing plans to support prospecting, lead and pipeline generation are in place, as well as help manage the annual Qualys Security Conference. This is a high-visibility role within the company, and this person will regularly interface with the senior level executives. The ideal candidate has exceptional project management and leadership abilities.

Manage North American Field Marketing Program

Partner with North American and regional sales management to support our business and sales goals. Directly manage a team of 2-3 marketing professionals. Set clear, measurable KPIs for team and ensure our field marketing activities deliver on expected goals. Analyze lead flow and contribution to revenue and evaluate ROI against all field marketing programs.

Qualys Security Conference

Qualys holds an annual security conference (QSC) in Las Vegas a way to give back to the security community and it has always been viewed as our flagship event, eagerly anticipated by customers, partners, prospects and employees. In addition to QSC in Las Vegas, we hold it in a few key cities around the world and participate in a variety of other security industry trade shows throughout the year.

The person in this role, along with a team of event marketers, planners and field marketers will be responsible for organizing and executing the QSC’s both in Las Vegas and on the road (in partnership with the regional marketing directors). Key responsibilities as it relates to the shows include:

  • Work with product marketing to solidify the agenda for each city.
  • Work with the graphic design team on the printing of materials and branding of the events.
  • Work with the events team to ensure that all the logistics are properly managed, including securing event venues and A/V equipment.
  • Work with the local field sales team to secure customer speakers and ensure that the venue is appropriate.
  • Regularly update key executives on the status of the conference including registration numbers, marketing plans, and keynote speakers.

Regional Marketing Programs

  • Drive Regional Marketing Programs to support lead gen, prospecting, pipeline and revenue generation programs.
  • Drive pipeline growth by developing a quarterly marketing plan based on approved budgets including recommendations for industry specific regional activities, local sponsorships, conferences/trade shows, advertising, local events, participation in local business or trade associations, demand generation and content needs that will drive business results for the region.
  • Ensure that these activities are aligned and take advantage of the digital marketing activities driven by the demand generation team

 Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall tradeshow budget for North America and ensure proper ROI measurements are in place to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Review, negotiate and manage all event related vendors, contracts
  • Drive post-even retrospectives to capture lessons learnt and drive improvements for the future.
  • Ensure proper lead tracking including Salesforce.com campaigns and other mechanisms are in place to ensure proper follow-up by the field organization.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with hands-on experience directing logistics from start to finish. They know how to deliver white glove experiences and troubleshoot problems on the fly.  

  • BS degree required
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Creative thinker who looks to move beyond the status quo
  • Strong familiarity with digital marketing and event planning
  • 6+ years of experience in technology marketing and event marketing or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of field marketing experience
  • 4+ years of management experience
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Absolute attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a collaborative and professional environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Strong communication skills required – verbal, written and listening
  • Experience managing multiple third-party vendors
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft products including Office and OneDrive, Google Drive, Salesforce, CVent
  • Some travel required
