Shoals Technologies is hiring a Director of Quality to lead our quality function across multiple manufacturing sites. This role owns the enterprise-wide quality strategy, standards, and performance, partnering closely with site leadership, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure consistent, world-class quality across every facility. The Director of Quality leads and develops site-based quality teams, drives continuous improvement, and represents quality performance and strategy to executive leadership.

 

Responsibilities:

•    Own and lead the quality strategy across all Shoals manufacturing sites, ensuring consistent standards, processes, and performance across every location.
•    Serve as the executive owner of the Quality Management System (QMS), maintaining ISO 9001 certification and driving continuous improvement of the system across sites.
•    Lead, develop, and hold accountable site-based Quality Managers and Quality Engineers across multiple manufacturing facilities.
•    Standardize quality processes, procedures, and documentation across sites to ensure consistency, scalability, and audit readiness.
•    Own supplier quality strategy, including supplier audits, incoming inspection standards, and supplier corrective action (SCAR) processes.
•    Lead root cause analysis, corrective action (CAPA), and 8D problem-solving for internal, field, and customer-reported quality issues.
•    Own customer quality relationships, including complaint resolution, warranty/RMA trend analysis, and communication of corrective actions to customers when required.
•    Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and certifications (e.g., UL, IEC) relevant to electrical solar and energy storage hardware.
•    Develop, track, and report quality KPIs (e.g., DPPM, first pass yield, scrap, customer returns, CAPA closure rate) across all sites to executive leadership.
•    Drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause problem-solving methodologies.
•    Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues and support new product introductions.
•    Lead internal and external audits (customer, certification body, regulatory) across all sites, ensuring timely closure of findings.
•    Own and manage the quality department budget across sites, including staffing, equipment, and testing/inspection resources.
•    Travel regularly across manufacturing sites to provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and support to site quality teams.
•    Build organizational capability by developing quality talent and succession bench strength across the quality function.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field required; Master’s degree a plus.
•    Minimum of 10 years of progressive quality experience in a manufacturing environment required.
•    Minimum of 5 years in a quality leadership role required, with demonstrated experience overseeing quality across multiple manufacturing sites.
•    Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems required; experience with UL/IEC standards for electrical products preferred.
•    Deep knowledge of quality tools and methodologies: FMEA, SPC, Control Plans, 8D, CAPA, root cause analysis, and APQP.
•    ASQ certification (CQE, CQM, CMQ/OE) or Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
•    Proven experience leading and developing quality managers/engineers across geographically dispersed teams.
•    Strong supplier quality management experience, including supplier audits and corrective action processes.
•    Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and root cause investigation skills.
•    Strong executive communication skills, with experience presenting quality performance and strategy to senior leadership.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and quality/statistical software.
•    Ability to travel regularly (approximately 30-50%) across manufacturing sites.

Skills Required
