About the Role (your why)
This is a rare opportunity to shape how technology, policy, and public value intersect across New Zealand Government.
As Director – Public Sector (NZ), you will lead Datacom’s strategic growth agenda across the Wellington Public Sector market, building trusted executive relationships and positioning Datacom as a long-term strategic partner to Government. You’ll play a central role in helping agencies navigate complex digital transformation priorities across AI adoption, resilience, modernisation, and future-ready public services.
Operating at the highest levels of customer engagement, you will unite teams across Datacom to deliver a coordinated Whole‑of‑Government approach built on deep partnership to create meaningful, system‑level outcomes for New Zealand.
This role combines strategic leadership, commercial accountability, government engagement, and market influence. You’ll work closely with senior executives, market leaders, Lines of Business, and public sector stakeholders to identify emerging opportunities, shape strategic direction, and drive sustainable growth across key government portfolios.
You’ll also help elevate Datacom’s voice within the public sector ecosystem through thought leadership, executive engagement, and participation in conversations shaping the future of digital government in New Zealand.
What you’ll do
As Director – Public Sector (NZ), you will be focused on:
• Leading strategic growth across Wellington Public Sector customers and opportunities.
• Building executive relationships and driving a Whole-of-Government engagement approach.
• Developing account strategies aligned to government priorities across AI, resilience, and digital transformation.
• Leading Datacom’s approach to GDDA, AoG, and strategic procurement opportunities.
• Translating government policy and market signals into actionable growth strategies.
• Providing leadership across strategic pursuits and cross-functional stakeholder groups.
• Positioning Datacom as a trusted advisor through executive engagement and thought leadership.
• Supporting strong commercial outcomes through strategic account planning and governance.

What you’ll bring
Required experience:
• Extensive experience in executive leadership, public sector strategy, government relations, or senior public sector sales leadership.
• Strong understanding of New Zealand Government structures, priorities, and procurement frameworks.
• Proven success leading strategic account growth and executive customer engagement within the public sector.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience delivering sustainable growth outcomes. • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
• Ability to translate complex technology and transformation initiatives into meaningful public sector outcomes.
Nice to have:
• Experience within a Tier 2 Service Provider environment.
• Existing senior relationships across the New Zealand public sector landscape.
• Understanding of emerging government priorities across AI, cyber resilience, and digital transformation.
