Flint is looking to hire a director specialising in Dutch public policy and government affairs (at least 8+ years of experience) to serve our cross-sectoral client base. You will be based in the Netherlands. We will consider candidates who are willing to work remotely, with at least one day at our office in Amsterdam.

Members of our multi-national team have experience working at the most senior levels in European governments, the EU institutions, regulatory agencies, competition bodies and the private sector. We support companies facing national, European, and international regulatory and policy challenges.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Direct experience in Dutch or European public affairs or advocacy in a consultancy, trade body, corporate office, national regulators, European institutions or civil service.
  • Demonstrated interest in NL and/ or EU policies and experience in working directly or indirectly with NL and/ or EU institutions.
  • Previous experience in directly managing individual employees or teams.
  • Good project management, organisational and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritise, plan and schedule tasks proactively and independently. Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Flexible approach and the ability to work well across multi-national teams, both with colleagues, senior clients or stakeholders. Manage upwards and downwards and provide coaching to junior team members.
  • Outstanding written communication skills, with proven ability to draft clear documents for internal and external audiences with varying degrees of expert knowledge.
  • Outstanding oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex issues to non-specialists.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills. Ability to obtain a solid overview of new and complex subject matter in a short period of time. Drive for analytical rigour and quality.
  • Fluent written and spoken Dutch and English are required. Knowledge of other EU languages is a big plus.

Skills Required

  • At least 8 years of experience specializing in Dutch public policy and government affairs
  • Direct experience in Dutch or European public affairs or advocacy
  • Experience working directly or indirectly with Dutch or European Union institutions
  • Previous experience directly managing employees or teams
  • Project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, schedule, and work independently under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across multinational teams and with senior clients
  • Ability to coach junior team members
  • Outstanding written communication and document-drafting skills
