TITLE: Director of Product Strategy & Design
LOCATION: New York City (hybrid) or Fully Remote in the United States
SALARY: $185,000-$225,000 base salary (based on NYC, will be adjusted for geo)
The Role:
Lead the strategic vision, product discovery, and design system for Canoe. Own the process of shaping and implementing product strategy, ensuring it is rooted in deep user research, a repeatable framework for idea evaluation, and best-in-class product systems. Build products that solve high-value customer problems and deliver measurable outcomes.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and articulate a long-term vision and strategy for all SaaS/data products.
- Lead end-to-end product discovery: conduct user research, frame jobs-to-be-done, and rigorously validate ideas with LPs, GPs, consultants, and wealth clients.
- Shape and maintain the product system: establish repeatable frameworks for ideation, prioritization, and go-to-market planning (Lean, JTBD, etc.).
- Drive implementation of design thinking across teams; coach PMs and designers in using prototyping, journey mapping, and experimentation.
- Build and continuously improve processes for capturing customer feedback, translating it into actionable insights, and closing the loop with clients.
- Lead annual/quarterly roadmap and investment planning cycles, prioritizing initiatives for the greatest business and client impact.
- Partner with commercial/GTM leaders to position, launch, and refine products for institutional adoption.
- Manage and develop product managers and designers as a center of strategic, customer-obsessed excellence
What We're Looking For:
- 7+ years in software product management, with deep ownership of both product strategy and product systems/process.
- Demonstrated mastery of user research, including qualitative/quantitative feedback, and product-market fit testing.
- Built and implemented a repeatable product process (ideation, discovery, validation, launch, learning) that shaped team and org culture.
- Deep familiarity with private markets, asset management, or institutional investment workflows.
- Strong record of managing and mentoring PMs/designers; builds high-performing, learning-oriented teams.
- Critical thinker and creative problem solver.
