The Opportunity:

TrueCar is seeking a Director, Product Management.  Our Product Management team is inherently cross-functional and works closely with our engineers, data scientists, and designers to guide products from conception to launch to achieve the company’s vision for reinventing the consumer’s experience; with our marketing and solutions teams to bring our experiences to market, as well as with our business partners to generate profitable revenue streams. 

How you will contribute to TrueCar’s success:

  • Manage the product plan and drive the team towards timely completion of key milestones.
  • Lead and develop a team of product managers, in addition to other critical product roles.
  • Communicate product status, key issues, and launch plans to key constituents across the organization including senior management and external partners.
  • Responsible for the development and direction of research aimed at improving current products and generating ideas for new products and services.
  • Research, evaluate and filter assigned ideas from senior management.
  • Create, evaluate and analyze specification documents for new lines of business and products.
  • Present product ideas to senior management and seek approval for execution and launch.
  • Work closely with partner management team to identify new products to enhance performance of programs.
  • Work with technology leads to evolve the product development process.
  • Work with design and front-end teams to produce efficient front-user experiences.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance (conversion, close rate, abandonment) of the Car-Buying platform.
  • Develop effective user stories and spec (visual and written) requirements.
  • Hands-on work with software engineers as they build and test the new feature.
  • Conduct a post-launch assessment of newly implemented initiatives.

Your Expertise:  

  • Extensive product management experience owning product line strategy, product roadmaps and successfully bringing products to market in a B2C or two-sided marketplace environment. 
  • Prior experience successfully managing, motivating, developing, and growing highly capable product managers.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to practice strong ownership, and drive change in complex environments
  • Ability to constructively advance opinionated perspectives, well-informed by industry and customer analysis, to all levels of an organization.
  • Highly data-driven and can quickly formulate the right analytical framework for any user experience or product/platform health question.
  • A natural, deep curiosity that drives you to learn, investigate, and constantly ask “why”.
  • Expert communication skills, including the ability to persuade and inspire, a knack for breaking down complex technical concepts, and a proactive attitude toward knowledge sharing.
  • Creativity when it comes to generating ideas, but an understanding that execution is what ultimately matters.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, and an instinct for moving quickly.

Base salary range: $188,000 - $230,000
