Director Product | ELN

What do we need 

We are looking for a visionary product leader to spearhead the evolution of our established, scientific R&D enterprise platform (Electronic Lab Notebook - ELN)

You will oversee a high-performing team focused on two key industry pillars: early-stage drug discovery (hit-to-lead, lead optimization, and candidate selection) and formulated products (specialty chemicals, cosmetics, or consumer goods). This role will have the opportunity to lead and enable teams.  As the Director Product for ELN, you will be working with Customers, Sales and Product Development teams to sustain and evolve our best-in-class digital data capture platform, leveraging the growing scientific data and application eco-system.

In this role you will get to 

• Lead Teams: Lead, mentor. Foster a culture of agile software delivery.
• Own Product Strategy & Roadmap: Own the long-term vision for our ELN platform as it evolves in concert with our nascent Luma platform. Balance "blue-sky" innovation (e.g., AI/ML integration) with the immediate operational needs of lab scientists as part of a combined offering - Lead the product team through coherent, iterative, end-to-end product deliverables.
• Work closely with other stakeholders inside and outside the organization to collect and understand strategic and tactical prioritized objectives and requirements including but not limited to non-functional requirements around scalability, performance, reliability, upgradability, resiliency, maintainability; and scientific functional requirements
• Enable and empower the product team to define and prioritize goals, epics, and user stories that clearly articulate what’s expected in each release 
• Orchestrate and present monthly showcases of work to help elevate the teams’ success and learnings and facilitate an agile way of working 
• Attend sprint planning, sprint reviews, and other agile events – acting as a strong partner to engineering 
• Lead longer-term strategic thinking around how the platform will evolve to incorporate other scientific activities and capabilities.

• Commercial success: Work closely with the Chief Product Officer, SVP of Product Strategy, and Chief Marketing Officer to build product requirements documents, presentations, and roadmaps that exemplify our innovation in the scientific data space, and communicate these both internally and externally for validation 
• Facilitate co-development activities with key customers to help inform requirements and strengthen strategic partnerships.  
• Take accountability for bringing our first customers live and seeing them through to successful use of the software, helping them and us to measure the ROI.
• Communicate status and key metrics internally to key stakeholders  
• Assist in go-to-market activities, such as contributing to marketing collateral, creating demonstration videos, etc. 

• Customer Engagements: Have a fluent and commanding presentation style at company-sponsored events and in direct discussions with customers
• Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of trends in drug discovery (e.g., high-throughput screening, omics, research chemistry) and formulated products (e.g., sustainability modeling, regulatory compliance).
• Cross-Functional Orchestration: Partner closely with Engineering to manage technical debt vs. new features, and with Sales/Marketing to refine our go-to-market strategy in the Life Sciences and Formulations sectors.
• Remote Team Operations: Optimize workflows for a distributed team across the UK and US, ensuring seamless collaboration across time zones.

We are looking for people who have 15+ years in SaaS Product Management, with at least 8+ years in a people management position.
The key skills we are looking for  

• Product Leadership & Team Development – Ability to lead, mentor, and scale high-performing product teams while fostering an agile, accountable delivery culture.
• Strategic Product Management – Expertise in defining and owning long-term product vision and roadmaps for enterprise SaaS platforms, balancing innovation with execution.
• Scientific & Domain Expertise – Strong understanding of scientific workflows and R&D environments (e.g., ELN, drug discovery, formulations) and translating them into product strategy. Or Similar experience with Big Data Platforms
• Enterprise SaaS Platform Thinking – Deep knowledge of building and evolving scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise software platforms.
• Agile & Execution Excellence – Strong command of agile product practices, enabling teams to deliver cohesive, end-to-end outcomes.
• Commercial & Go-to-Market Acumen – Ability to support product positioning, customer validation, and go-to-market execution in partnership with Sales and Marketing.
• Executive Stakeholder Management – Proven ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Customer teams.
