Job Summary

Generally responsible for developing, negotiating, and executing transactional procurement strategies, supplier relationship management strategies and contract services procurement strategies in support of the applicable Business Units. Champion new initiatives that will support strategic business objectives, support the business unit partner's needs, and enable the company to efficiently operate in a competitive and changing environment. Establish and maintain strong relationships with Business Unit partners and suppliers. Directs transactional and strategic procurement operations and staff in the execution of labor, service, material, and equipment contracts for over $1B in annual spend related to capital and O&M corporate projects throughout 11 states. Directly responsible for providing the management, oversight, and integration of procurement activities supporting over $1B in spend for the categories supporting the business units. Orchestrates major sourcing initiatives by providing expertise in sourcing profiles, spend, market segmentation, market trends, negotiation strategies, opportunities, risk, and total cost of ownership models. Directs complex sourcing events and facilitates executive level presentations to key sponsors and stakeholders. Establishes collaborative working relationships with various business units across the enterprise and balances policy and procedural requirements with operational needs to ensure maximum results, savings, and value are achieved. Provides oversight in the development of key partnerships (exclusive and non-exclusive) involving strategic, high-value engineered equipment, systems, labor, and services to meet demand. Supports corporate initiatives and drives organizational change through supplier development, sustainability, diversity, total cost savings, audit remediation, and SOX reporting requirements. Serves as committee lead on various internal and external steering committees.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

• Manage and lead in the development, preparation and administration of contracts and service agreements, pre-qualification of contractors, suppliers and other service providers, maintenance of qualified contractor listings, and effective contractor performance review processes.
• Ensure all procurement and negotiating strategies account for the recovery of the value of an asset, including redeploying it to another location in the company, returning it to the manufacturer or distributor, selling it, trading for another asset, donation, or paying to safely dispose of it or handled otherwise as recommended by the Asset Recovery group.
• Conceptualize, organize, and initiate suggestions and make recommendations to business unit management pertaining to strategic and leverage contracting programs for the Corporation.
• Lead the Procurement section in procuring materials, equipment, and services to meet the daily needs of the Corporation.
• Develop and execute procurement strategies that align with goals and objectives of the business unit and establish performance measurements to monitor the efficiency of services.
• Coordinate with the financial business planning group, the establishment, tracking and revision of procurement performance measures and performance expectations and procedures to report on these performance measures.
• Provide periodic reports to upper-level management associated with procurement activities.
• Recommend sourcing waves based on market or business changes identified by analysts or the Business unit.
• Coordinate all buyer functions to ensure that the strategic programs are fully utilized and communicate the value these programs bring to AEP.
• Create and coordinate cross-functional teams in establishing and improving supply chain initiatives and processes.

What We're Looking For:

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field of study.
• MBA or Purchasing certification is preferred but not required.

Work Experience:

• Seven years of supply chain experience with at least three years in a supervisory/managerial role.

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) preferred.

Other Must Haves:

• Position will have responsibility for over $1.0 billion in annual spend for materials and services. Must have strong analytical, teamwork and communication skills and be experienced in advanced negotiations with the ability to execute complex business transactions.
• Must have ability to effectively work with all levels of internal management and external suppliers and must be able to prioritize and coordinate activities to successfully perform in this position.

Compensation Range:

$160,434.00 - $208,565.50
