SUMMARY
The Director of Pricing is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of strategic pricing models across transportation and 3PL services, with a focus on maximizing profitability and market competitiveness. This leadership role manages a team of pricing analysts, guiding data-driven decision-making and ensuring alignment with customer expectations and business objectives. The ideal candidate combines deep industry knowledge with strong analytical and mentoring skills, driving continuous improvement in pricing strategy, bid responses, and margin optimization. Collaboration with sales, operations, and finance teams is essential to deliver scalable, customer-centric solutions.
This position will work closely with sales to identify the feasibility of opportunities, be a resource on sales calls and verify outgoing solutions documentation. Work closely with Implementation/Operations teams as the internal customer to ensure that the solution(s) is complete and clearly handed off to ensure operational execution. This position is responsible for maintaining financial and pricing metrics that will meet or exceed performance goals. Responsibilities also include sourcing transportation providers to expand multi-mode capabilities. Work closely with Carrier Development to expand and maintain service provider networks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement pricing strategies for multimodal brokerage services that align with market trends, customer needs, and company profitability goals.
- Oversee the analysis of carrier rates, lane performance, and market conditions to ensure competitive and profitable pricing structures.
- Lead and mentor a team of pricing analysts providing guidance on pricing methodologies, tools, and best practices. Collaborate with sales, 3PL operations, Account Management, and carrier sales teams to support negotiations ensuring optimal margins and service levels.
- Manage end to end process for responding to customer RFPs, ensuring timely, accurate, and strategic pricing submissions, working with internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with sales, operations, leadership, and finance to align pricing strategies with capabilities and financial targets.
- Streamline quote request processes and automate quote processes for transactional and project based business.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of pricing models, rate databases, and analytical tools to support data driven decisions.
- Track pricing performance metrics and implement adjustments to improve profitability and competitiveness.
- Remain informed on industry developments and participate in relevant conferences of committees to enhance pricing strategy.
- Work closely with Carrier Development and operation leaders to accomplish network and capacity expansion and maintenance with new and existing service providers. This includes all modes of transportations providers, installers, and delivery/warehouse partners.
- Develop solutions by taking client information and creating process design, cost structure, and optimal pricing that is both profitable for the company and a superior choice for the client.
- Provide analytical support for projects, new business opportunities, and proposals for transportation, 3PL warehouse, and 3PL first and final mile solutions.
- Develop rate cards and tariffs as needed to meet internal and client needs.
- Assist in the development and achievement of strategic business process KPI’s and metrics.
QUALIFICATONS

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, economics, finance, or data analytics or related field. Preferred MBA in business administration, SCS, or analytics. Must possess a minimum of 5- 8 years of experience in transportation and 3PL pricing. Lean Six Sigma is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Advanced proficiency in Excel, expertise in utilizing TMS platforms, RFP and Bid management platforms, and industry specific tools for real time rate benchmarking and lane intelligence.
Must possess a high level of reasoning ability and common sense to resolve complex problems and analyze data and information accurately. Must have strong presentation skills with the ability to inform and persuade internal and external stakeholders in relations to developed solutions. Strong writing skills with experience documenting design methodologies to create logistics solutions and responses to RFP’s. Must demonstrate a passion for cost and service level optimization. Must possess strong capabilities in modeling software and techniques.
Travel Requirements:
This role requires travel up to 25% of the time within the US.
