Division: Pharmacovigilance (Medical), UK & Ireland

About Ipsen

Ipsen is a growing global biopharmaceutical company focused on innovation in Oncology, Rare Diseases, and Neuroscience. With a strong patient‑centred culture, we are committed to developing transformative therapies and advancing science to improve lives. Our London hub plays a key role across our UK & Ireland operations, supporting strategic growth and excellence across all functions.

Join a purpose‑driven organisation where every colleague makes an impact — for patients, for society, and for each other.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Director, Pharmacovigilance (LPVM) UK/IRL & UK QPPV to lead and oversee Ipsen’s Pharmacovigilance operations across the UK & Ireland. This pivotal role combines senior leadership responsibility with legal QPPV accountability, ensuring the safety of patients and the compliance, robustness, and continuous improvement of our local PV system.

You will serve as Ipsen’s senior PV authority in the UK, acting as the primary point of contact for the MHRA, and will be instrumental in shaping safety governance, PV strategy, and inspection readiness across the affiliate.

Key Responsibilities

In this critical role, you will:

  • Serve as the 24/7 MHRA point of contact for all PV matters, ensuring business continuity and compliant back‑up arrangements.
  • Provide end‑to‑end leadership of the UK PV system, ensuring adherence to UK legislation, GVP requirements, Human Medicines Regulations, and Ipsen SOPs.
  • Maintain full oversight and quality assurance of the UK PSMF, PV processes, and local safety activities.
  • Lead and mentor the UK/IE PV team, fostering a culture of integrity, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee external PV service providers to ensure compliant case handling, data integrity, and inspection readiness.
  • Provide strategic PV expertise during product launches, MA transfers, audits, and inspections.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Quality, and Global Patient Safety teams to ensure an aligned and effective PV system.
  • Represent Ipsen at regulatory interactions and industry forums (e.g. ABPI, IPHA, MHRA, HPRA).
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced and inspiring leader with:

  • Extensive PV experience at senior leadership level.
  • In‑depth expertise in UK/EU PV regulations, GVP, ICH and CIOMS.
  • Proven experience driving PV system oversight, process optimisation, and compliance.
  • A strong track record in regulatory inspections and CAPA management.
  • Exceptional communication, cross‑functional leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A degree in Medicine, Pharmacy or Life Sciences (essential).
  • Previous QPPV or Deputy QPPV experience (advantageous).
Who You Are

You are a strategic thinker and thrive in complex environments, influence effectively across functions, and bring clarity, structure, and direction to high‑stakes decisions.

Your leadership embodies Ipsen’s values and our commitment to patients and society.

What We Offer
  • A key leadership role with direct influence on UK & Ireland patient safety.
  • A supportive, purpose‑driven culture where your impact is felt every day.
  • Hybrid working (in line with Ipsen policy).
  • Opportunities to collaborate with global experts across our therapeutic areas.

Join us and play a vital role in ensuring patient safety while shaping the future of Ipsen’s UK & Ireland operations.

We are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels heard, valued, and supported; where we embrace “The Real Us”. The value we place on different perspectives and experiences drives our commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities. When we include diverse ways of thinking, we make more thoughtful decisions and discover more innovative solutions. Together we strive to better understand the communities we serve. This means we also want to help you perform at your best when applying for a role with us. If you require any adjustments or support during the application process, please let the recruitment team know. This information will be handled with care and will not affect the outcome of your application.
