Director of Operations
Job Overview
The Director of Operations leads all resources and activities related to the production of trailers within a region. Production areas include cutting, welding, painting, assembly, and shipping/receiving. Functional areas include Plant Leadership, Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Materials Management and Maintenance. This individual will work in partnership with the Senior Operations Leadership Team to redefine how this business operates and architect an operational growth plan to take the business to the next level. Ultimately the goal is to positively impact the overall culture of the organization.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and leadership to production units to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets. Establish and administer production KPIs to ensure business needs are achieved.
- Build a world class team of operational leaders. Develop direct staff and ensure personnel objectives are aligned with organizational goals.
- Work collaboratively with the cross functional levels of the organization to develop a transformation growth strategy.
- Meet or exceed budgets as well as other key financial manufacturing performance goals.
- Drive continuous improvement activities and lead Lean transformation initiatives.
- Other responsibilities, as needed

Education – Experience Required
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 10+ years’ operations management experience in a discrete manufacturing environment, with a strong track record of success
- Pedigree Lean training and enterprise-wide transformation experience. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Toyota Production System methodologies such as: Process Flow Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, 5S/Visual Factory, A3 Development and Management, TPM, SMED, Standard Work, Process Problem Solving, Built In Quality, Just In Time, Kaizen/Continuous Improvement, Hoshin Kanri (SD, X Matrix), and Lean ROI
- Ability to communicate and obtain followership for a compelling strategic vision
- Ability to quickly analyze, interpret and recommend solutions to key stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate effectively to direct and motivate team and others,
- Multisite experience a Plus
- Ability to travel 50% of the time
Skills Required
