The Opportunity:

The Director, National Accounts and Platform Distribution is responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives that drive asset growth, deepen client partnerships, and strengthen Manulife Investment Management's competitive position across dealer platforms, bank-sponsored channels, wealth intermediaries, and strategic distribution partners. 

This role serves as a relationship manager and strategic consultant to key distribution partners, leading platform growth initiatives, recommended list strategies, business development efforts, practice management programs, and product placement opportunities across Manulife's full investment platform. 

Partnering closely with senior distribution leadership, the Director identifies and advances growth opportunities, influences platform and product positioning decisions, and delivers strategic value to clients through insights, thought leadership, and business solutions. 

The role carries accountability for select strategic client relationships and contributes directly to the achievement of National Accounts, Platform Distribution, and firm-wide sales and asset growth objectives. 

Position Responsibilities:

Platform Strategy and Product Opportunity Development

  • Develop and lead platform growth strategies across designated dealer firms and strategic intermediaries.

  • Identify opportunities for product placement, platform expansion, and competitive differentiation across mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs, alternatives, separately managed accounts, and family office solutions.

  • Translate platform intelligence into actionable growth initiatives and influence partner adoption decisions. 

Recommended List and Platform Positioning

  • Lead strategic recommended list and product shelf initiatives by developing value propositions, coordinating research engagements, and managing key stakeholder interactions.

  • Drive successful product placement outcomes and enhance Manulife's visibility and positioning across strategic distribution partners. 

Practice Management and Thought Leadership

  • Lead the development and delivery of practice management, advisor growth, and thought leadership initiatives that strengthen client relationships, differentiate Manulife Investment Management, and support advisor and platform business objectives. 

Business Development and Growth Initiatives

  • Drive business development opportunities that support asset growth across National Accounts and Platform Distribution channels.

  • Partner with sales leadership, wholesalers, product specialists, and investment teams to identify, prioritize, and execute strategic opportunities across Manulife's full product suite
     

Strategic Client Relationship Management

  • Manage and deepen strategic client relationships, acting as a trusted partner to senior distribution executives, research teams, platform decision-makers, and family office stakeholders.

  • Lead business planning discussions, identify growth opportunities, and ensure delivery of a differentiated client experience. 

Client Engagement and Industry Representation

  • Represent Manulife Investment Management at industry conferences, research meetings, due diligence sessions, client events, and executive forums.

  • Promote the firm's capabilities, strengthen client relationships, and identify strategic business opportunities. 

Due Diligence and Strategic Initiatives

  • Lead complex due diligence initiatives, strategic client projects, and cross-functional efforts supporting platform growth, product launches, and distribution priorities.

  • Lead RFI, RFP, DDQ, and research processes where required. Lead new account onboarding and contracting process.  
     

Market Intelligence and Strategic Insights

  • Provide strategic market intelligence and competitive insights to senior leadership, identifying emerging trends, platform opportunities, and business risks that influence distribution strategy and commercial execution

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressively senior experience within investment management, wealth management, distribution, national accounts, platform management, or institutional sales. 

  • Demonstrated success managing senior executive relationships within dealer, bank platforms

  • Proven ability to influence product placement, recommended list decisions, and distribution outcomes. 

  • Strong understanding of Canadian wealth management distribution and intermediary platforms. 

  • Experience supporting and leading RFI, RFP, DDQ, and due diligence initiatives. 

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related discipline. 

  • CFA, CIM, CFP, MBA, or other relevant industry designation considered an asset.

The compensation for this role includes salary and sales incentives and is expected to be between

$85,000.00 CAD - $125,000.00 CAD

Employees participate in sales incentive programs and earn incentive compensation based on role-specific criteria.
