Media Excel (MX) is Horizon Media’s principal-based buying arm focused on delivering value and financial solutions for clients. MX identifies emerging market trends and makes investments with media, tech, and data partners to deliver advantageous rates and terms to Horizon clients.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Principal Based Buying to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for negotiating and monitoring profitable deals with vendors across multiple media types, including video, digital, social, and more. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong communication, organization, and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate and secure profitable deals with vendors across various media types.
  • Monitor and manage vendor relationships to ensure optimal performance and value.
  • Oversee complex invoice reconciliation and billing processes.
  • Act as a liaison with internal investment, finance and operations teams to ensure seamless collaboration and execution.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize principal media buying processes and outcomes.
  • Manage a small team of 1-2 people with the expectation of team growth.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in the media industry, with a focus on principal-based buying and/or barter.
  • Proven track record of successful negotiation and vendor management.
  • Strong communication, organization, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage complex invoice reconciliation and billing processes.
  • Experience working with internal investment and operations teams.
  • People management skills with the ability to lead and grow a team.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive value and growth for the company.

Salary Range

$140,000.00 - $165,000.00
