About the team

Turo is the world's largest car sharing marketplace, connecting a vibrant community of hosts and guests across the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and France. As we scale into new markets and invest in the next generation of our platform, the teams that protect it matter more than ever.

The Marketplace Risk group sits within our global Trust and Safety organization and is central to keeping Turo safe, resilient, and trusted. The group owns Fraud Prevention and Chargebacks — preventing payment fraud, protecting identity and account security, improving chargeback outcomes, and reducing vehicle theft risk at scale. We monitor complex fraud patterns, protect billions in transaction value, and deliver the operational and analytical strength a global marketplace demands.
This is where you come in.

What you will do

Reporting to the Vice President, Trust and Safety, you will own the strategic vision and operational execution for Turo's global fraud prevention and chargeback functions. This is a role for a leader who operates at multiple levels — setting long-range strategy, driving cross-functional roadmaps, and diving deep into complex fraud and chargeback analyses when the business requires it. Your leadership will shape the systems, policies, and operational frameworks that protect the marketplace and the customers who depend on it.

  • Own the strategic planning, prioritization, and execution of Turo's global fraud prevention and chargeback management programs

  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of managers and subject matter experts across internal and vendor-supported operations

  • Build frameworks and processes that drive global alignment, operational consistency, and scalable performance across in-house and outsourced teams

  • Monitor risk signals and operational controls, identify gaps, and prioritize actions that reduce losses and strengthen prevention

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Data Science to deliver tooling improvements, risk controls, and automation that reduce fraud while limiting false positives

  • Synthesize complex risk metrics into clear, executive-level narratives and recommendations for senior leadership and cross-functional partners

  • Drive quarterly strategy planning tied to measurable outcomes across fraud reduction, chargeback performance, theft mitigation, and customer protection

  • Develop teams through coaching, talent planning, and structured QA programs that elevate performance globally

Your profile
  • 10+ years of experience in Trust and Safety, Fraud, Risk Management, or a related field, preferably in a marketplace, fintech, or technology environment

  • 8+ years leading teams, with demonstrated ability to develop managers, specialists, and vendor-supported operations at global scale

  • Proven ability to design scalable solutions across policy, tooling, enforcement, and operational frameworks

  • Deep analytical capability with fluency in SQL, Excel or Sheets, and data visualization tools

  • Strong track record of leading cross-functional initiatives in partnership with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Finance, and Operations

  • Skilled at structuring complex or ambiguous problems and translating analysis into clear recommendations and action plans

  • Experienced in creating executive-level narratives and presentations that connect data to strategy

  • Collaborative communicator who can influence and align stakeholders across teams, levels, and global locations

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment with a bias toward improving systems, processes, and outcomes

Bonus if you have
  • Advanced degrees or relevant certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)

  • Background in two-sided marketplaces or mobility platforms with an understanding of supply and demand risk dynamics

  • Experience with risk tooling such as Sift, Socure, or Ekata, and familiarity with payment systems such as Stripe

Turo Recruiting Scam Alert:

We’ve learned that there are scammers targeting job candidates by impersonating Turo and its employees. We ask candidates to be careful of fraudulent job postings or suspicious recruiting activity during their job search, especially if they’re contacted through unofficial channels (such as Instagram, Telegram, MS Teams, etc.). In general, Turo interacts with candidates through our Careers page and via turo.com email addresses, and we don’t ask candidates for sensitive financial or personal info or request money as part of the hiring process (so an application fee or equipment costs). If candidates are not sure whether they’re dealing with an impersonator, they can contact Turo’s Recruiting Team at [email protected]. Candidates can also report suspicious activity to the FTC or other appropriate authorities.

Turo AI Policy:

Turo may use AI-enabled tools to support our recruiting operations, including gathering information from candidates, drafting communications, helping with interview note-taking and assessment, and so on. These tools only supplement our team; all decisions to advance or hire candidates are made by Turo employees. While we welcome candidates to use AI-enabled tools to help prepare for their interviews, the use of such tools, including any AI chatbots or note-takers, is not permitted during live interviews or technical assessments. We want to see how you consider and solve problems in real-time, so interviews and assessments are all you (unless we indicate otherwise and ask you specifically to use an AI-enabled tool to answer a question). If during the application process you require the use of an AI-enabled tool as a reasonable accommodation for a disability, please let us know at [email protected].
