The Role

The Director of Marketing plays a critical role in leading and executing Riot’s brand go-to-market strategy as the company evolves from its Bitcoin mining roots to its broader digital infrastructure and data center platform. This role blends creative vision with cohesive operational precision, driving campaigns, conferences, sponsorships, and activations that bring Riot’s brand and story to life with energy, consistency, and purpose. 

 

This is a player coach role, blending strategic leadership with hands on execution. The Director of Marketing serves as cross functional glue, partnering closely with Engineering, Data Center Operations, Bitcoin, Investor Relations and various other departments to translate complex offerings into compelling market narratives. 


This role is based in Denver, CO. Relocation assistance provided.

 

What You'll Do

  • Own Riot’s marketing and brand strategy, ensuring alignment with business growth, customer acquisition, and corporate evolution. 
  • Lead go to market planning and execution for new products, platforms, and customer segments, particularly within data center and digital infrastructure expansion. 
  • Serve as the brand gatekeeper, setting standards for messaging, visual identity, voice, and positioning across all channels. 
  • Develop and oversee integrated marketing campaigns across digital, events, web, social, and earned media. 
  • Partner with Communications and IR to ensure consistent corporate, investor, and market messaging. 
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high performing marketing team; manage designers, specialists, and future hires. 
  • Balance strategy and execution: contribute directly to high impact initiatives while guiding team priorities. 
  • Oversee agency relationships and external partners as needed. 
  • Track performance metrics and insights to continuously refine strategy and execution. 
  • Support executive positioning, conferences, and industry visibility. 

 

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years leading integrated marketing, ideally in high-growth or multi-brand organizations. 
  • Proven success developing and executing campaigns across digital, content, and experiential channels. 
  • Strong written and verbal communicator with executive presence. 
  • Strong creative instincts and ability to simplify complex ideas into memorable brand stories. 
  • Experience managing budgets, agencies, and cross-functional projects. 
  • Confident leading teams and translating creative direction into measurable impact. 
  • Preferred: Familiarity with technical or industrial storytelling (data centers, energy, Bitcoin mining, etc.). 


Compensation and Benefits 

  • Competitive Salary: Base salary range $150,000 - $180,000 (commensurate with experience) + sign-on equity grant + bonus.
