Maybell Quantum is growing quickly and expanding our operations group! If being part of an outstanding team at one of the most exciting companies in quantum computing sounds interesting, then Maybell may be the place for you.

Maybell Quantum Industries, Inc. is a venture-backed quantum computing startup focused on designing and building the hardware for quantum systems. Quantum computers are going to be as important to the next 30 years as the internet was to the last 30; our team is building the hardware to make them work. In addition to competitive salary and benefits, the position includes stock options in one of the most promising startups in the country.

Maybell Quantum is seeking an experienced operations leader to run our manufacturing organization. Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Director of Manufacturing Operations owns manufacturing planning, supply continuity, and cost across our cryogenic hardware lines, working in close partnership with our production and quality teams. Our ideal candidate has scaled hardware from low-volume builds to repeatable production and is equally comfortable on the floor and in front of the executive team.

Responsibilities

  • Own manufacturing planning and scheduling — build plans, capacity, and on-time delivery commitments — in partnership with the production team.
  • Lead, coach, and grow the manufacturing organization.
  • Partner with engineering to bring new products into production, driving design-for-manufacturability and clean hardware handoffs.
  • Define, baseline, and report the operational metrics this role owns — on-time delivery, schedule adherence, inventory accuracy and turns, material cost variance, and build cycle time — and set improvement targets against them.
  • Own manufacturing's implementation and use of a new ERP/MRP platform — BOM and routing accuracy, master data, planning parameters, and inventory transactions — and drive the transaction discipline that makes the data trustworthy.
  • Run demand and materials planning, including forecast-to-build conversion, MRP-driven purchasing signals, safety stock policy, and inventory investment levels.
  • Partner with the quality team on supplier quality, nonconformance resolution, and documentation control so defects are caught upstream of the build.
  • Own the manufacturing budget and capital plan, including tooling, equipment, and facility capacity.
  • Drive continuous improvement programs to increase output.
  • Manage supply chain risk alongside procurement, including sole-source exposure, long-lead components, and supplier qualification.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in manufacturing operations, including 5+ years leading and developing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience taking complex hardware from prototype through repeatable production.
  • Hands-on ERP/MRP ownership, including an implementation, migration, or major module rollout, plus BOM and routing structures, planning parameters, and inventory control.
  • Experience building planning and inventory processes from the ground up in a low-volume, high-mix hardware environment.
  • Strong command of quality and continuous improvement methods, such as root cause analysis, CAPA, and lean.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a track record of influencing across production, quality, and engineering teams and presenting to executives and investors.

Base salary: $165,000 - $180,000
