About The Role

FTI M&A advisory team provides corporates, business owners and private equity and other investors a variety of M& A and corporate development services including strategic reviews, advisory on acquisitions, divestments, leveraged buy-outs, carve outs, and restructuring advisory.

The team focuses on transactions in The Netherlands and works on transactions typically with a degree of complexity.

Furthermore, the team leverages on the deep knowledge and experience of some of the international sector teams of FTI abroad and on the other teams in the Amsterdam offices of FTI.

What You’ll Do

The Director’s role is the lynchpin on marketing and execution, supporting Managing Directors in delivery of ideas and content on marketing pitches and quarterbacking execution on live transactions, managing more junior resources in on-time delivery of a quality work product.

As a specialist, the Director will both support and manage business development opportunities and oversee client pitch presentations, idea development and deal execution.

The role is fully client facing and requires the following attributes for success:

  • Be an integral part of the concise M&A team, covering clients and prospects to identify and deliver creative marketing ideas and business solutions in support of corporate strategies.
  • Act on the day-to-day management of transactions and assignments. Review pitchbooks, memorandums, presentations and other projects with minimal oversight.
  • Review financial models to analyse a wide variety of client-specific projects, eg. DCF, DDM, LBO amongst others.
  • Assisting in the origination and execution of transactions domestically or cross-border, which will include:
  • Evaluating risk factors
  • Managing and executing tasks encompassing valuation, strategic reviews, competitor analysis, accounting and other technical and personnel issues
  • Managing and/or performing comprehensive financial and mathematical modelling and analysis
  • Effectively managing the workflow of the junior team by aligning tasks with transaction/departmental goals and objectives
  • Supporting the junior team with ongoing mentoring, coaching and supporting career development

What You Will Need to Succeed

Basic Qualifications

  • Previous experience in M&A, with between 7 and 10 years of relevant experience
  • Exposure and understandin g of the following capabilities/services: M&A, Corporate Strategy, Equity Raising, Debt Raising and/or Transaction due diligence.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills including the ability to create and deliver professional product ideas and presentations.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills used within a team environment and in client interaction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, strong work ethic and teamwork skills. Self-motivated, with a strong desire to excel in a challenging field.
  • Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools including MS Excel. Strong proficiency in other Microsoft Office products.
  • Good judgment in confidential situations and ability to exercise discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Ability to advocate persuasively.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and with limited supervision.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly wit h strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent capability to independently and proactively service multiple clients and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Hardworking and resilient.
  • Dutch language proficiency required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A University degree. Focal areas of finance or economics preferred. High academic achievement.
  • MBA, CFA or equivalent experience in financial services, accounting or legal fields is preferred but not required.
