Role Overview

Crunchyroll is looking for an operational leader to serve as Director, Localisation & Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for building, scaling, and leading a multi-disciplinary team driving three core operational pillars: regional dubbing operations, platform content operations, and localized marketing operations. You will ensure that every piece of content—from full-length episodic anime to promotional trailers and fan communications—is delivered on time, at peak technical quality, and in an authentic local tone of voice.

This role is ideal for an experienced media and post-production operations executive who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys bringing structure to a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment. You are a builder at heart—someone who takes end-to-end ownership of complex challenges, isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves to optimize legacy systems, and excels at architecting robust, scalable processes from the ground up. You combine structured, data-driven leadership with a deep passion for global content regionalization, and you excel at evaluating complex vendor partnerships, establishing rigorous quality control standards, and building seamless workflows in fast-paced environments.

You will be responsible for shaping Crunchyroll’s European operations collaborating cross-functionally with Global Centre’s of Excellence, Content Acquisition, Growth, Marketing teams to ensure anime fans in Europe enjoy premium, culturally nuanced experiences.

The Localisation & Operations Team

The Localisation & Operations team serves as the operational backbone powering Crunchyroll’s European business. By bridging raw media assets with multi-language execution, the team ensures millions of subscribers and territories receive synchronized, high-quality audio, subtitle, and marketing deliverables. The team’s mandate is to uphold localized creative integrity, optimize operational efficiency, and elevate brand authenticity to super-serve anime fans in Europe.

Key ResponsibilitiesRegional Dubbing Operations & Vendor Strategy
  • Lead the regional dubbing operational strategy, setting gold-standard benchmarks for quality across titles.
  • Source, evaluate, and manage ongoing relationships with external dubbing studios, post-production houses, and localisation agencies in the region.
  • Lead vendor negotiations to secure market-competitive rates, scalable capacity, and strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) across multi-language projects.
  • Establish comprehensive Quality Control (QC) frameworks for dubbing assets to guarantee linguistic fidelity, regional slang/nuance accuracy, lip-sync alignment, and audio master standards.
  • Monitor vendor throughput, turnaround times, and error rates, implementing continuous process improvements for simuldub and deep catalog localization pipelines.
Content Operations, Ingestion & Scheduling
  • Maintain a clear view of readiness across upcoming regional releases, including content assets, localized components, metadata, regulatory requirements, rights/avails, partner specifications, and publishing dependencies. Identify gaps early and coordinate resolution before they impact fans or partners.
  • Ensure all regionally required components are correctly ingested, associated, and published, including subtitles, dubs, closed captions, audio descriptions, localized metadata, and required regulatory or content-classification tags.
  • Partner closely with Global Operations on title schedules, rights and avails, material readiness, asset availability, and technical requirements.
  • Work closely with Global Localization and Regional Localization to ensure required localized outputs are available against regional launch schedules.
  • Partner with Regional Marketing and other regional stakeholders to translate regional programming and launch priorities into operational schedules and delivery requirements.
  •  Track regional content-operations performance including on-time availability, publishing accuracy, delivery failures, remediation time, partner issues, and recurring defects. Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, eliminate manual work, and improve global-to-regional handoffs while adopting common global standards, tools, and operating practices.
Marketing Operations & Asset Localisation QC
  • Oversee marketing asset localization operations, managing the pipeline for trailers, teasers, key art, digital banners, and social collateral across our key European territories.
  • Enforce rigorous QC across all customer-facing communications, ensuring localized copy, tone of voice, and brand messaging resonate natively within each specific market context.
  • Develop agile asset workflows capable of delivering rapid-turnaround localized creative materials for regional promotional initiatives.
  • Oversee the localization workflow for all global and regional marketing assets required by the Region, including copy, key art, trailers, video, social assets, paid-media creative, CRM materials, partner assets, promotional content, and other campaign deliverables.
Team Leadership & Operational Governance
  • Build, mentor, and direct a high-performing operations team spanning dubbing, content ingestion, and marketing ops functions, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Define, track, and report on primary operational KPIs (e.g., fulfillment throughput, unit costs, vendor turnarounds, QC pass/fail rates) to executive leadership.
  • Build business cases for infrastructure investments, automated tooling, and resource scaling to keep pace with growing catalog size and platform expansion.
  • Codify operational playbooks, SOPs, and cross-territorial standards to harmonize workflows across regional and global offices.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 12+ years of professional experience in content operations, localization, media supply chain, or post-production leadership within OTT/streaming, entertainment, or digital media platforms.
  • Proven track record leading multi-functional operations teams across localization/dubbing, asset management, content scheduling, and marketing operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to confidently navigate ambiguity, drive organizational change, and build scalable processes from scratch in a highly dynamic, high-growth environment.
  • Extensive experience evaluating, onboarding, managing, and negotiating commercial agreements with global dubbing studios, post-production vendors, and localization agencies.
  • Deep technical understanding of media localization pipelines (dubbing, subtitling, audio mixing, lip-syncing), digital asset management (DAM), CMS systems, and video ingestion formats.
  • Demonstrated capability in building rigorous QC processes for customer-facing localized assets, upholding brand standards, and maintaining local cultural voice across multiple regions.
  • Strong analytical ability with hands-on experience utilizing operational dashboards, workflow metrics, and ROI analysis to streamline operations.
  • Proven experience operating effectively in a global, matrixed organization with cross-functional partners in multiple time zones.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and executive presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English required
  • Passion for anime, international pop culture, media, or entertainment ecosystems is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Production, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or Master's preferred.
