GAINSCO is seeking a Director of Learning & Development (L&D) to lead enterprise-wide learning strategy and execution. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for building scalable leadership development, professional development, and organizational development programs that drive performance, engagement, and growth. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders while championing a culture of continuous learning across the company.
What does the Director, Leadership Development do at GAINSCO?
- Build and execute a company-wide L&D strategy aligned to business priorities and talent needs.
- Design and scale leadership development programs for front-line, mid-level, and senior leaders.
- Oversee content creation and curation across digital, in-person, and blended learning experiences.
- Evaluate and implement learning technologies and platforms to improve delivery and measurement.
- Lead, develop, and coach a high-performing L&D team through clear goals, mentorship, and growth planning.
- Partner with executives to identify leadership capability gaps and develop targeted learning solutions.
- Collaborate across HR and business teams to support succession planning, internal mobility, and career pathing.
- Serve as a thought leader in change management, engagement, and culture-building.
- Establish learning metrics and KPIs that demonstrate effectiveness, impact, and ROI.
- Manage relationships with vendors, consultants, and content providers.
- Own the L&D budget, ensuring cost-effective delivery, resourcing, and investment decisions.
- Ensure enterprise compliance training requirements are met (including annual compliance training).
- Lead internal communications related to learning programs and development opportunities.
- Support company-wide engagement initiatives (e.g., culture committee, engagement surveys).
What is required?
Education:
- Bachelor's degree is required, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, HR, or related field preferred.
Certifications:
- Certification in leadership coaching, facilitation, or assessments is preferred.
Experience:
- 12+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development.
- 5+ years of experience leading, managing, and developing teams.
- Experience using talent assessment tools such as Korn Ferry, 360 assessments, or similar instruments to support development strategies.
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide skills transformation efforts, embedding learning into business strategy, and strengthening leadership capability across the organization.
- Proven experience in executive-level facilitation, leadership development, and delivering measurable business impact through learning initiatives.
Other skills and abilities:
- Strong strategic mindset and business acumen—aligns learning solutions to organizational goals.
- Deep expertise in adult learning principles, instructional design, and leadership development.
- Strong people leadership—builds capability through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Executive-level communication and facilitation skills; strong stakeholder management.
- Proficiency with learning systems and tools (e.g., LMS platforms like UKG Pro or Absorb, eLearning tools, MS Teams).
