Summary of Position
The Director of International Missions at The Summit Church provides vision, leadership, and strategy for advancing the multiplication of disciples, leaders, and churches globally, while overseeing the pathway that mobilizes Summit members to participate in international missions.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A visionary leader with teaching and shepherding gifts
- Subject matter expert in current mission strategies/models/approaches.
- Proven commitment to the local church as the sending agent for the mission of God
- Capable of building large teams around a common vision
- Extended experience in international contexts
- Summit Member in good-standing
- A member of The Summit Church or willing and able to become a member
Responsibilities
- Develop and cast vision for the Summit’s international missions strategy
- Provide directional leadership to the International Missions team
- Represent the Summit Church in international missions conversations and cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with networks, missions agencies, like-minded churches, and other organizations to establish healthy partnerships
- Influence and champion the culture of sending across the church by utilizing communication channels, providing inspiration and training for staff, and advocating for sending promotion
- Invest in the Sending Pathway by casting vision for God’s heart among the nations, teaching at Sending Pathway-related events, and shepherding people through the Sending Pathway.
- Develop and manage the budget pertaining to all of The Summit Church’s engagement in international missions.
- Shepherd missionaries on the field through quarterly calls, stateside debriefs, and short-term trip visits
Churchwide Events
The hours for this position are expected to be 40 hours per week. As one church that meets in many locations, there are several times throughout the year that Summit holds church-wide events in an effort to do whatever it takes to reach all people. All staff members are expected to serve at these church-wide events regardless of the positions they hold.
Such events include, but are not limited to: Easter services, church-wide prayer meetings, Good Friday service, and Christmas services. Serving expectations will be communicated in advance of each event.
