Director of Internal CommunicationsAs Director of Internal Communications on the Communications and PR team, you’ll drive strategic internal communication and Team Member (employee) engagement initiatives that elevate business priorities, support change management, and amplify leadership voices through a diverse set of internal channels and audiences. In this highly-visible role, you excel in a fast-paced matrixed environment and collaborate effectively across multiple teams and regions to develop communication strategies that strengthen employee engagement and deepen trust in the company. As a key leader within the organization, you will provide timely, strategic communications counsel to senior leaders and stakeholders at all levels, ensuring alignment, messaging clarity, and consistency in communications efforts. A strong passion for storytelling, culture, and engagement is essential, as this role plays a critical part in bringing the company’s values to life for Team Members, ensuring they understand business priorities, their impact, and how each individual contributes to the organization’s success.
Essential Functions
- Working closely as a trusted expert with cross-functional teams to develop and implement internal communications strategies to advance business priorities, elevate leadership visibility and strengthen engagement across the organization.
- Building and driving a multi-channel thought leadership and strategic communications platform that amplifies senior leaders’ visibility and influence.
- Leading the planning, content and execution of internal company meetings and high-visibility stakeholder engagements, including leadership sessions, plant tours, town halls, and speaking opportunities.
- Effectively leveraging a diverse range of communication platforms and mediums: including digital, social, owned channels, and emerging technologies with tailored messaging and stories to reach, inform, and influence internal audiences.
- Developing frameworks, tools, and training that enable consistent, clear, and effective communication internally.
- Ensuring internal communications channels are dynamic, inclusive, and responsive to Team Member needs facilitating open dialogue and continuous learning.
- Creating and managing internal stories, articles, newsletters, and communications, overseeing content calendars to ensure timely delivery across multiple channels, and tracking results to measure impact.
- Playing a key leadership role in operationalizing best-in-class communications at Niagara.
Knowledge & Skills - Essential
- Bachelor’s degree and a preferred minimum of 10 years of advanced experience in consulting and working with senior leaders in the design, development, and execution of internal communications and engagement strategies and initiatives.
- Skilled in developing and executing internal engagement campaigns through close collaboration with multiple teams, with strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills and a keen understanding of tone, voice, and audience.
- Experience managing projects and programs end-to-end, from strategy and design through delivery and measurement of results.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills with a proven track record of building strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
- Proven expertise in social and digital platforms, agency management and budget oversight.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Viva Engage, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
