Position Overview:
The Director of Infrastructure Engineering is responsible for designing, building, and delivering CrossCountry Mortgage’s (CCM) core technology platforms in a secure, scalable, and repeatable way. This role leads the BUILD function for infrastructure and enterprise platforms, translating architectural direction and business demand into production‑ready solutions. This role is independent from daily operations as well as audit, compliance, and risk oversight. The Director of Infrastructure Engineering is a delivery‑focused technology leader who drives consistent, high‑quality technology builds and ensures that every solution is fully prepared for a smooth operational handoff.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end delivery of infrastructure and platform initiatives, from approved design through implementation.
- Translate enterprise architecture standards into deployable, production-ready solutions.
- Ensure builds meet requirements for scalability, resilience, security-by-design, and cost efficiency.
- Own technical delivery accountability for infrastructure and platform engineering initiatives.
- Deliver on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure engineering solutions.
- Design and implement cloud architecture and engineering patterns.
- Engineer core, WAN, branch, and connectivity network capabilities.
- Develop and integrate identity and access management (IAM) platform components.
- Support and optimize core enterprise platforms, including Microsoft 365, collaboration tools, and endpoint foundations.
- Automate infrastructure through Infrastructure‑as‑Code and standardize repeatable build patterns.
- Partner closely with Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment with target-state direction.
- Enforce standard build patterns, configurations, and engineering guardrails.
- Reduce architectural drift through consistent implementation and reuse.
- Partner with security and risk teams to integrate required security controls into all builds, while maintaining independence from audit and compliance functions.
- Coordinate with Technology Operations to ensure clean handoff, documentation, and support readiness.
- Partner with the Project Management Office on delivery sequencing, dependencies, milestones, and execution planning.
- Establish automation and Infrastructure-as-Code as default practices.
- Drive modernization of legacy platforms where appropriate.
- Reduce manual build effort, rework, and technical debt over time.
- Lead and develop engineers across infrastructure, cloud, network, and identity disciplines.
- Set clear expectations for quality, ownership, and delivery accountability.
- Promote standardized, process‑driven engineering methods to ensure reliable and predictable delivery.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or systems engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in a senior engineering leadership role.
- Experience with hybrid infrastructure environments (e.g., on‑premises and cloud).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS required; Azure preferred).
- Experience with network and identity engineering.
- Experience with enterprise collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365).
- Experience in delivering complex, multi‑team technology initiatives.
- Experience in regulated or audit-heavy environments, preferred.
- Thorough understanding of security-by-design principles.
- Skilled in driving execution and maintaining a consistent delivery focus.
- Skilled in exercising architectural discipline and adhering to standards.
- Skilled in structured problem‑solving and maintaining composure in all situations.
- Skilled in collaborating and working effectively across teams.
- Skilled in building credibility with both engineers and executive stakeholders.
