The Director, Group Product Manager is a senior technology product leadership role accountable for end-to-end product delivery outcomes for the Specialty Business Unit, encompassing Excess Casualty and other specialty product builds, and shared function delivery (Billing, Claims, Portals, Distribution) as they serve the Specialty lines. This role leads a team of Technical Product Managers and oversees technology product strategy, vendor governance, and cross-functional delivery spanning policy administration, underwriting, billing, claims, portals, and distribution for their Business Unit. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Owns the product roadmap and delivery outcomes for the Specialty Business Unit, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and business objectives. 
  • Accountable for Business Unit delivery outcomes across shared insurance functions (Billing, Claims, Portals, Distribution, Marketing etc.) 
  • Develops and articulates a clear technology product roadmap for the Specialty Business Unit, aligning product goals with the Company’s overall goals, and customer needs. 
  • Oversees the product planning process by collaborating with cross-functional teams, prioritizing features, defining requirements, and creating a product roadmap for the entire product development lifecycle. 
  • Leads and inspires a team of technical product managers (TPMs) and coordinates their activities to ensure that they meet key performance indicators (KPIs) while fostering collaboration with engineering, business stakeholders, marketing, and other departments.  
  • Partners with LPM and Business Owners on market intelligence and industry trends; translates into technology product roadmap priorities for the Specialty Business Unit 
  • Represents the product roadmap to executive leadership, internal stakeholders, and customers to ensure alignment and transparency. 
  • Ensures product roadmap reflects customer needs as defined by business stakeholders and LPM 
  • Ensures consistent delivery of value by validating that all products meet customer needs and maintain high-quality standards. 
  • Manages vendor delivery execution at the Business Unit level — ensures vendor teams deliver against SOW commitments  
  • Sets Business Unit roadmap priorities for shared function TPMs 
  • Develops and leads a team of technical product professionals. 
  • Provides strategic and tactical direction to the team, communicating the organizational mission and values, and setting standards for performance excellence in technology product delivery. 
  • Establishes a collaborative team culture ensuring high engagement, recognition, and retention of team members. Ensures leadership practices promote continuous development and high performance. 
  • Manages hiring, onboarding, and training for incoming staff, setting clear expectations and developing career paths to build a resilient, skilled team capable of driving innovative solutions. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONISBILITIES 

Directly supervises employees within the Product Management teams and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. These responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting performance and salary reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to further their skills and knowledge; creating and monitoring development plans; setting performance expectations/goals; forecasting staffing needs and planning for peak times and absences; enforcing department policies and procedures. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in business administration, marketing, computer science, software development, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in IT product management with at least 3-4 years in senior leadership roles, with a track record of successfully managing and launching insurance technology products.
  • Experience in P&C insurance technology delivery required.
  • Demonstrated experience in vendor governance, SOW negotiation, and investment proposals for enterprise technology platforms.
  • Experience with insurance SaaS platforms (Guidewire, Majesco) and vendor delivery models required.
  • Track record of delivering cross-functional outcomes across multiple concurrent initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 

  • Working knowledge of underwriting workflows, policy administration, billing, and claims processes for Specialty lines.
  • Comfort with ambiguity in a scaling organization — this role requires someone who can build structure while delivering outcomes simultaneously.
  • A solid understanding of product management tools and processes, including proficiency in agile methodologies, product lifecycle management, market research techniques, and data analysis. 
  • Strong strategic thinking skills and a solid understanding of business dynamics to align product initiatives with overall business objectives. 
  • Strong leadership skills to inspire and motivate a team, set a clear vision, and guide them toward successful product outcomes. 
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are important for conveying product vision to key team members and stakeholders and collaborating with cross-functional teams. 
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with diverse teams, including engineering, architecture, business teams, etc.   
  • Strategic thinking and ability to make informed decisions about product direction, market opportunities, and competitive positioning while analyzing complex situations and leveraging your problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to embrace new technologies, methodologies, and agile strategies.

The current range for this position is

$160,745.90 - $287,738.43

This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
