About the role:
McCain is looking for a Director- Government Relations and Corporate Affairs for India based at Gurugram. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the company's relationships with government entities, managing its public reputation, and ensuring its social responsibility efforts. This role will provide leadership and direction for the business with regard to Company reputation, external communications, media, stakeholder and government relations. This role will also oversee the CSR efforts for the organisation.
This role will directly report to MD for India. This role will be based in Gurgaon but will involve frequent travelling both domestically and abroad.
Key Deliverables:
- Develop strategy at all levels of Government in India including clearly defined objectives, plans and programs in support of India objectives and building corporate brand reputation
- Oversee the company's public relations activities, including media relations, crisis communications, and community outreach. Act as the key point of contact with external Media and Public Relations Agency
- Organize internal crisis management framework and priorities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, foster relationships with key government contacts to ensure McCain India has full knowledge of government initiatives and programs.
- Lead and maintain relationships with other executives across multiple sectors to stay up to date on current events, politics and public policy issues across the country
- Participate in various government meetings, consultations, roundtables and conferences
- Draft government correspondence, pre-budget submissions, position papers and policy language
- Enhance the reputation and equities of our brand by providing strategic counsel on communications strategies.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that may impact on the company's operations.
- Represent the company before government agencies, testifying at hearings and participating in meetings as needed.
- Develop and manage a government affairs budget.
- Knowledge of financial rewards/rebates/subsidies of Local, State and Central government and strive for financial subsidies for the company and new establishment.
- Collaborating with the events of brand promotion, exhibition, ceremony, etc. • Develop and execute a corporate affairs strategy that builds and maintains a positive reputation for the company.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including media representatives, industry groups, and community leaders.
- Oversee the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, including philanthropy, environmental sustainability, and diversity and inclusion.
- Oversee the India Sustainability team and facilitate the periodic global reporting process
- Develop a strategic vision for sustainability in India, aligned with global sustainability goals and best practices.
- Lead the development of sustainability programs across all relevant areas, such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, and social responsibility.
- Oversee sustainability reporting and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and reporting frameworks.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in sustainability and advise senior leadership on emerging issues.
- Proven track record of success in building and maintaining relationships with government officials.
About you:
- This role requires a strategic and experienced leader with a deep understanding of government affairs, public relations, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Should enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Must have master's degree in political science, public policy, communications, or a related field (MBA preferred) with over 15 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or a related field.
- Proven track record of success in building and maintaining relationships with government officials.
- Extensive corporate strategy and crisis management experience
- Experience working in a matrix environment and driving results through influence
- Experience working in Consumer Goods/FMCG and Food & Beverage sector in global multinational firms preferred
- Corporate communications expertise with global communications experience
