Vast is looking for a Director of GNC Hardware & Test, reporting to the Senior Director, Flight Dynamics & GNC, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Manage responsible engineers developing procedures for confidence, acceptance, qualification tests of GNC components
- Ensure responsible engineers timely coordinate with relevant functional groups in obtaining environmental test levels, test harnessing and ground support equipment
- Ensure industry standards are met when leading and signing off on test readiness reviews
- Manage end-to-end GNC tests during and after vehicle integration, both prior as well as at payload processing facilities
- Manage GNC test schedules
- Manage development of high fidelity GNC flight dynamics simulation and data management systems in support of GNC Monte-Carlo simulations
- Lead GNC coordination with flight software test team to ensure hardware-in-the-loop testing of GNC components meets industry standards
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering or other engineering discipline
- 8+ years of space industry engineering experience
- 5+ years of working experience in GNC
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
- Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to easily navigate through different computer software programs
- Ability to create and update request for proposals (RFPs), purchase orders (POs) and facilities work orders in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to make independent judgments with limited information
- Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees, vendors, and customers
- Logical and strategic approach to solving problems
- Ability to read and understand basic floor plans
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
Salary Range: California
$184,900—$245,100 USD
