About the opportunity

You will be partnering with a leading CFO in the sector, engaging in all aspects of financial leadership across a large and rich purpose-driven institution offering ‘board’ level engagement with key players on our Senate and relevant Committees.

Financial Control and Treasury (FC&T) ensures that the University of Sydney, its subsidiaries, and entities, meet all external statutory financial reporting obligations, manages the University’s ‘back office’ Treasury accounting and treasury policy compliance functions, and administers and reviews a number of the University’s financial policies, including the Financial Accounting Manual.

Overarching these core functions is a CFO partnership requiring the Director to take a pan-University commercial perspective on a wide range of matters beyond the technical.

About you

The position of Director - Financial Control and Treasury has a Head of Administrative unit delegation, in line with the Senate delegations.  This position is responsible for all financial statutory compliance management and external reporting on behalf of the University and its Controlled Entities and subsidiaries. This position is also responsible for negotiating, implementing, maintaining, and managing banking supplier relationships that are beneficial and cost-effective for the University.

To be considered for this role you must be registered as a CA or CPA (Graduate qualification in an applicable and appropriate field such as an MBA, Master of Law in applicable financial field, etc. would be highly desirable). Your proven financial strategic leadership experience across complex & multiple sectors and genuine intellect will be demonstrated by your ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including at board level. Having strong experience with enterprise systems and process design and implementation will support your excellent written and verbal communication skills, & presentation skills with the ability to adjust and present complex information audience appropriately.

Term and remuneration

You will be offered a full-time fixed term position, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation for new appointees.

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.

Similarly, your ongoing employment is conditional upon the satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements.
