The Director of Finance provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization's financial management, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, compliance, and internal control functions. The role is responsible for safeguarding the financial integrity and sustainability of the organization through effective financial planning, risk management, governance, and regulatory compliance. The Director of Finance leads the development and implementation of sound financial systems, policies, controls, and reporting frameworks to support informed executive and board-level decision-making, operational efficiency, and organizational growth. The position also plays a key leadership role in strengthening financial accountability, managing audits, overseeing cash flow and financial performance, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, donor requirements, and organizational policies.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Manage and guide all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, and revenue recognition in the organization.
  • Manage the budget and forecasting processes. Develop recommendations for financial targets within the strategic/operational planning and forecasting process.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Develop the organization’s short- and long-term goals and help to achieve the same.
  • Accurately maintain and ensure quality control over all accounting and financial records and reporting.
  • Manage the organization’s audit processes.
  • Develop, implement, and manage controlling processes and systems and ensuring compliance to financial and accounting standards, i.e., IFRS.
  • Develop, document, and implement accounting practices and policies and business processes to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Manage and guide all accounting operations in the organization.
  • Prepare and publish monthly financial statements.
  • Monitor actuals vs. plan, analyze deviation and their drivers, recommend measures to ensure plan achievement and track ongoing progress of major project initiatives.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely reporting of all accounting and financial reports to relevant entities internal and external.
  • Create and provide financial analyses, reports, and dashboards for various stakeholders.
  • Manage cash flows to meet obligations and investments.
  • Manage client disbursement processes.
  • Prepare for and manage month-end and year-end processes.
  • Develops and implements departmental budget.
  • Undertake professional development and training, as necessary to meet organizational objectives.
  • Train and develop other personnel who have responsibility for providing information/documentation for accounting purposes.
  • These duties are neither exhaustive nor exclusive and the position holder is required to undertake reasonably determined duties with the organization driven by the needs of the business.


Requirements
Education/Experience:
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, business administration or related field
At least five to ten years’ experience in financial roles
Professional license such as CPA, CMA, CFA are highly preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt to the needs and requirements of the organization
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
Thorough knowledge of accounting and finance regulations
Knowledge/proficiency with Quick Books

Skills Required
