About the Role

This position reports directly to the VP of Finance for Bedrock Manufacturing Company, LLC (“BMC”) and is responsible for oversight and management of accounting and reporting, internal controls over financial reporting, budgets, 13-week cash flow forecasts, tax and banking compliance, and period end close activities required of the Shinola Finance department. This role will directly oversee the Accounting Manager (along with a team of two accountants) and will have shared oversight over the parent company’s financial processes and elements of consolidation. This role will also work closely with other department heads and leaders throughout the company.

We are looking for a high energy, solution oriented financial leader who collaborates easily with leaders from other departments to drive process efficiency and execute strategic goals of the organization.  A desirable candidate should also have proven experience developing finance professionals with diverse skill sets. Shinola is a fast-paced, growing company so a candidate who can challenge the status quo and think outside the box is essential.  Strong communication skills are also a must.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and provide financial insights on performance to leadership
  • Manage cash flows utilizing the 13-week forecast and full year forecasts to set expectations on the businesses uses and sources of cash
  • Reconcile cash requirements to the merchants’ open to buy plan, identifying and resolving discrepancies on a timely basis
  • Prepare monthly collateral and loan compliance reporting to the bank
  • Ensure tax compliance on all financial functions
  • Technical accounting research and position papers on material transactions
  • Ensure internal controls over financial reporting are documented, in place and operating effectively
  • Documentation and maintenance of accounting policies
  • Work closely with finance leaders within the Bedrock family of companies to drive timely consolidation of financial records and collaboratively share best practices
  • Leverage the finance team and inputs/direction from business leaders to prepare budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans
  • Oversee consolidation and manage the financial transactions of the parent company
  • Proactively engage in the ERP implementation ensuring better automation, greater efficiency, and an improved control environment are at the forefront of the project
  • Perform and/or build routine and ad hoc financial reports that provide advanced insights into company performance leveraging BI and other analytical tools as necessary
  • Serve as the relationship point person for the year end audit and ensure PBC deliverables are provided by the team to the auditors on a timely basis

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of finance experience required
  • Experience managing teams of finance professionals required
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office products
  • Integrity, honesty, and high ethical standards
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Four-year degree in accounting or finance required
  • Masters in Business (or Accounting) and CPA licensure strongly preferred
