Hyatt Regency Long Island is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to lead all financial operations for our 358-room full-service hotel, conference and event destination. This executive leadership role is responsible for overseeing the property's financial health, ensuring sound fiscal management, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting operational leaders in achieving business objectives.
As a key member of the Executive Committee, the Director of Finance works closely with the General Manager and department leaders to drive profitability, maximize financial performance, and ensure the hotel's financial goals are achieved.
The Director of Finance administers all financial activities of the hotel; implements and monitors effective controls and procedures, prepares accurate and timely financial reports and analyses, and provides guidance on key business decisions that impact the property's performance.
This position reports directly to the Vice President of Hotel Accounting for technical and financial matters and serves as a trusted business partner to the General Manager and Executive Committee on operational and strategic initiatives.
- Direct and oversee all hotel accounting and financial operations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and management reports.
- Analyze financial results and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Provide financial guidance and strategic recommendations to hotel leadership.
- Support capital planning and investment analysis.
- Partner with department heads to optimize revenues, control expenses, and achieve financial targets.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure strong internal controls are maintained.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Progressive finance leadership experience within hospitality, hotel, or resort operations.
- Strong knowledge of hotel accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated success leading teams and influencing operational decision-making.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with executive leadership and department heads.
- CPA, CMA, or similar professional designation preferred.
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related business field
- Minimum 2 years' experience leading hotel accounting functions
- Strong business communication skills, verbal and written
- Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite (Microsoft Office/Excel)
- Ability to create and maintain internal control systems
- Direct preparation of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and financial reports
- Hire, train, evaluate and counsel accounting staff members
- Arrange for audits of hotel accounts and prepare regulatory reports
- Ability to maintain calm, professional demeanor under pressure and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work varying schedules and regular attendance per business needs
- Ability to lift and/or move 10-25 pounds as needed
