This person will join a talented, creative and experienced marketing team that is responsible for the overall marketing of our content, brand and talent. A critical part of this role will be shaping how individual titles show up in the world: defining the strategic vision and audience opportunity for titles, setting a distinctive creative and marketing direction, and bringing together the right cross-functional teams to deliver campaigns that create meaningful audience and cultural impact.

A critical and influential leadership role, this person will be part of the India Marketing Leadership team as well as the team of leaders in the country. This role is based in Mumbai and will report to the Senior Director, Marketing, India.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building and developing a high-performing team of marketers, creating clarity of roles and accountability while giving teams the space, context and support to do their best work.
  • Setting a high creative bar and fostering a culture that encourages bold thinking, thoughtful risk-taking, experimentation and learning.
  • Leading the overall calendar of integrated 360-marketing campaigns for original films, original series, global films, global series & licensed titles.
  • Providing strategic direction to the team for campaign development across creative, media and overall business impact, ensuring each title has a clear marketing vision, audience strategy and distinctive point of view.
  • Being an integral contributor to the overall marketing strategy as part of the India Marketing Leadership team, while shaping the Films & Series Marketing strategy and defining how individual titles show up in the world.
  • Driving deep cross-functional collaboration with Content, PR, Comms, Product, Legal and other teams and peers to create alignment, resolve trade-offs and drive campaign and business impact.
  • Building strong relationships internally with cross-functional partners and externally with critical industry stakeholders, key talent, showrunners, directors and production houses.
  • Defining and implementing workflows, constantly checking and refining them to ensure smooth 360 functioning across teams and functions, while balancing scale and efficiency with bespoke thinking for individual titles.
  • Building and fostering agency relationships across creative and media, and managing them to deliver outstanding, culturally relevant work.
  • Managing the Films & Series Marketing budget, making thoughtful trade-offs across investment, creative ambition, audience opportunity and business impact.
  • Acting as a culture builder and leading by example: leaning into Netflix cultural tenets of Context, not Control, and Freedom & Responsibility, giving teams the space, support and direction to thrive while always striving for what’s best for Netflix.
  • Innovating and fuelling creativity by defining how title marketing is done for the growing streaming entertainment category in the country, raising the creative and strategic bar and encouraging teams to challenge conventions.
  • Championing a deep understanding of Indian audiences and cultural context, bringing together consumer insight, data and marketing instinct to inform campaign strategy and creative choices.
  • Ensuring campaigns create meaningful audience impact, conversation and cultural relevance, while enabling the team to learn continuously from campaign performance, audience behaviour and emerging cultural signals.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Proven track record of building impactful, world-class 360-degree campaigns that connect with audiences and break through the cultural zeitgeist.
  • Experience strategizing and executing across paid, owned and earned channels and across different audience segments.
  • Demonstrated creative excellence across multiple campaigns and brands, with the ability to develop distinctive, bespoke approaches rather than defaulting to established marketing formulas.
  • Strong ability to translate content, consumer insight and cultural context into a clear marketing point of view, including title positioning, audience strategy, messaging and campaign direction.
  • Deep understanding of the Indian consumer and cultural landscape, including the regional, linguistic and behavioral nuances that shape entertainment discovery, consumption and conversation.
  • Rich understanding of the media, entertainment and cultural landscape and how it influences brand and content marketing.
  • Strong business judgment, with the ability to balance creative ambition, audience opportunity, business impact and resource constraints, and make high-quality decisions in ambiguous environments.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence, build alignment across multiple functions and stakeholders, and create clarity without relying on formal authority.
  • Strong leadership skills and a track record of leading and developing large, talented teams, creating an environment of accountability, autonomy, experimentation and continuous learning.
  • Ability to structure, organize and manage a complex, challenging and dynamic work environment involving multiple internal and external stakeholders, competing priorities and campaign timelines.
  • Ability to identify and improve workflows and ways of working, bringing structure and clarity while preserving creativity, speed and flexibility.
  • Humility, curiosity, a learning mindset and openness to receive and act on feedback.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to spot opportunities, mobilize teams and resources, and respond quickly to emerging audience, platform and cultural signals.
  • A willingness to challenge conventional approaches, take thoughtful creative risks, experiment, learn and continuously raise the bar for how entertainment is marketed.
