Position PurposeUnder occasional oversight, lead underwriting activities within RLI’s Executive Products Group, spanning public, private, and nonprofit organizations. Apply strong financial and risk analysis to evaluate complex exposures, structure tailored coverage solutions, and support profitable portfolio growth. Partner with brokers to expand market relationships and reinforce RLI’s presence in the executive liability marketplace. Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of the underwriting process for Executive Products Group business, with emphasis on D&O and related management liability lines.
  • Analyze, evaluate, accept, decline, rate, quote, and bind new and renewal submissions.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis to inform risk selection and pricing.
  • Develop and execute a marketing plan by targeting new broker relationships, arranging meetings, and representing RLI at industry functions.
  • Provide mentorship to underwriting staff, ensuring adherence to underwriting discipline and development of technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and product development teams.
  • Lead special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or a related field required.
  • 5–10 years of underwriting experience in management liability, with demonstrated expertise in D&O across public, private, and nonprofit entities.
  • Advanced degree, CPCU, or other professional designation preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to analyze complex financial statements and market data.
  • Ability to communicate underwriting decisions and recommendations clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage and develop subordinates to ensure increased performance.
  • Ability to use software to summarize and analyze large amounts of data.
  • Ability to apply a strategic perspective to improve underwriting functions.

Compensation OverviewThe base salary range for the position is listed below. Please note that the base salary is only one component of our robust total rewards package at RLI. The salary offered will take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications/credentials, talent availability & specialization, as well as business needs. The below range may be modified in the future. Base Pay Range$139,978.00 - $204,018.00
