The Role

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

We are seeking a strategic and technically adept Director of Infrastructure, Cloud, and Cyber Architecture to lead the design, development, and governance of enterprise-wide infrastructure and security architecture. This role will be instrumental in shaping our cloud strategy, modernizing infrastructure platforms, and ensuring robust cybersecurity frameworks that align with our business goals and regulatory requirements. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Define and drive the enterprise infrastructure and cloud architecture strategy.
    • Align architecture initiatives with business objectives and digital transformation goals.
    • Lead the integration of infrastructure and cybersecurity into North Star architecture.
  • Architecture & Design:
    • Develop scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure and cloud solutions.
    • Establish architectural standards, patterns, and governance models.
    • Ensure seamless integration of cloud platforms (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) with on-premise systems.
    • Hands-on experience designing secure architectures across AWS, Azure, GCP, and hybrid environments.
    • Experience in supporting and designing network infrastructure, including SD-WAN, Edge Services, and Cloud landing zones connectivity.
  • Cybersecurity Architecture Support:
    • Collaborate with security teams to embed cybersecurity principles into infrastructure and cloud designs.
    • Strong knowledge of security domains: IAM, network security, zero-trust, data protection, cloud security, endpoint security, and application security enabling the creation of patterns and controls to safeguard our systems
    • Support co-development of cybersecurity reference architectures, frameworks, and roadmaps.
    • Support and enable cross-functional collaboration by bridging security, infrastructure, cloud, application development, and business units.
    • Proven ability to balance cybersecurity and privacy requirements with business outcomes in complex environments.
  • Collaboration & Influence:
    • Partner with engineering, operations, and application teams to ensure architectural alignment.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on infrastructure and security matters.
    • Mentor and develop a high-performing team of architects and engineers.
  • Innovation & Optimization:
    • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to drive innovation.
    • Optimize cost, performance, and reliability across infrastructure and cloud environments. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity architecture.
  • Proven leadership in designing and implementing enterprise-scale solutions.
  • Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), virtualization, networking, and security.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO, GDPR).
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • AWS/Azure/GCP Architect Certification
  • CISSP, CISM, or other cybersecurity certifications
  • TOGAF or other enterprise architecture frameworks
  • ITIL Framework

SUPERVISION:

  • Reporting to the SVP Infrastructure & Architecture

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Advanced Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:  

  • Minimum of 15 years’ related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or a Master’s degree with 8 years’ experience; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent directly related work experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, expectation management and training skills, consistently meeting the specific needs of various client groups, project teams, and target audiences.
  • 8 years experience serving in a senior architect role
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with a major cloud vendor (AWS, Azure, or GCP), certification a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of experience architecting Cyber & Network solutions in regulated environment
  • Ability to bring forward new technologies and patterns and apply them into the organization
  • Demonstrated experience communicating complex architects and roadmaps to senior business leadership
  • Experience in healthcare industry preferred, but not required
  • Ability to self start and effectively operate within a complex, dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross functionally in a matrix management environment.
  • Must be able to facilitate meetings to resolve issues/problems with a win/win result.
