Lantern Care is looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our Product Engineering organization. This role owns feature delivery across multiple engineering pods, partnering closely with Product and business stakeholders to translate roadmap priorities into shipped, high–quality software. You will report to the VP of Engineering and play a central role in maturing how our engineering teams plan, build, and iterate. This is a hands–on leadership role for someone who has run engineering teams before and wants to build the next chapter of Lantern’s delivery model – standing up new pods, championing iterative, loop–based development practices, and raising the bar on execution across the organization.
Location: Hybrid - at least 3 days/wk in our Vancouver, BC Canada office
Responsibilities:

  • Manage the delivery for multiple product engineering pods, ensuring predictable, high-quality releases against roadmap commitments
  • Stand up and scale new engineering pods structured around iterative, agentic, loop-based development, defining team composition, cadence, and ways of working
  • Partner with Product Management and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into executable work with clear context and constraints
  • Maintain hands-on technical expertise in design, code, and deployments
  • Coach and develop engineering managers and senior engineers, building a strong bench of technical leadership
  • Drive engineering rigor and architecture standards via platform tools across the pods, including code quality, testing discipline, and architecture alignment, in partnership with QA and Architecture
  • Drive scaled hiring, performance management, and career growth for the Product Engineering team
  • Report on delivery health, velocity, risks, and escalations to senior leadership
  • Champion adoption and experimental scale of Lantern’s AI-assisted SDLC tooling and practices within your pods

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years leading engineering managers or senior technical leads
  • Track record of standing up or restructuring engineering teams around new delivery models, such as pod-based or iterative, loop-based development
  • Deep experience partnering with Product and QA to ship complex, customer-facing software at scale
  • Strong technical judgment across modern architecture, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD practices
  • Experience operating in a regulated or healthcare-adjacent environment is a plus
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with a strong proficiency in .NET Core, C#, Typescript, and/or Python
  • Proven experience leading software development teams specializing in web applications and integrations.
  • Experience in modern JavaScript frameworks, NET Core, C#, Typescript, Python, REST APIs, SQL, etc.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Cloud-based development (Azure preferred)

Strong Candidates Will:

  • Move fast without sacrificing quality, balancing urgency with sound engineering judgment
  • Communicate clearly and directly with both engineers and executive stakeholders
  • Have built or scaled pod-based engineering structures from the ground up with direct connection to the business for rapid, iterative development
  • Coach engineering managers, not just individual contributors
  • Bring a builder’s mindset to process, comfortable defining how a new team should work rather than just executing an existing playbook
