Director Of Engineering - Java, React, RAG & GenAI

• Blue Yonder, a leading AI-driven Global Supply Chain Solutions software company, is seeking a Director of Engineering – Java Full Stack (React) to lead strategic product development initiatives.
• This role combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership, driving the design and delivery of scalable, cloud-native, full-stack applications. You will lead multiple engineering teams and play a critical role in shaping next-generation Warehouse Management and Supply Chain solutions, enabling seamless logistics in an evolving e-commerce landscape.
   

• Backend: Java, Spring Boot, Microservices
• Frontend: React.js, TypeScript, modern SPA architecture
• Cloud: Microsoft Azure (primary), Kubernetes, Docker
• Data & Messaging: Kafka, ElasticSearch, distributed systems
• Architecture: Hybrid (Legacy 3-tier + SaaS multi-tenant microservices)
• DevOps: CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, automation
• Agentic AI/GenAI: Azure OpenAI, LLMs (GPT family), prompt engineering, vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone), RAG architectures, AI observability

• Provide strategic and technical leadership for multiple Java Full Stack engineering teams (30+ engineers through managers/leads).
• Define and drive architecture vision for scalable, resilient cloud-native and AI-enabled applications.
• Lead development of modern SaaS platforms integrating Generative AI capabilities to enhance user experience, automation, and decision intelligence.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering (e.g., Copilot, code generation, automated testing).
• Design and implement AI-powered features such as intelligent recommendations, conversational interfaces, and predictive insights in supply chain products.
• Oversee end-to-end delivery from planning through production, including AI model lifecycle management (LLMOps).
• Ensure responsible AI practices, including data privacy, model explainability, and governance.
• Partner with Product, Data Science, and Architecture teams to embed AI/ML into product strategy and workflows.
• Establish engineering KPIs including AI adoption metrics, productivity gains, and model performance metrics.
• Drive innovation through experimentation with emerging GenAI tools and frameworks.
• Mentor leaders in AI-first engineering mindset and modern development practices.

• Strong background in:
  • Java, Spring Boot, Microservices architecture
  • React.js and modern frontend engineering practices
• Proven experience architecting large-scale full stack enterprise applications
• Deep expertise in:
  • Distributed systems
  • Cloud-native architecture
  • Multi-tenant SaaS platforms
  • Event-driven and AI-augmented architecture

Generative AI & Advanced Technologies

Hands-on or leadership experience with:

• Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI platforms (Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, etc.)
• Prompt engineering and prompt optimization techniques
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture
• Vector databases and embeddings (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS)

Experience integrating AI into enterprise applications:

• Chatbots, copilots, knowledge assistants
• Intelligent automation workflows

Understanding of:

• Model evaluation, monitoring, and fine-tuning strategies
• AI governance, security, and ethical considerations

Familiarity with:

• LLMOps / MLOps pipelines
• AI observability and performance tracking
• Exposure to AI-driven developer productivity tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)

• Proven track record of leading large engineering organizations and multiple teams.
• Experience delivering enterprise-grade SaaS products at scale.
• Strong experience in Agile/SAFe/Kanban methodologies at scale.
• Data-driven approach to improving engineering productivity and quality.
• Ability to influence stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Sales, and Operations.

• Expertise in:
  • Cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable)
  • Kubernetes, Docker, container orchestration
  • CI/CD, DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code
• Experience building highly available, scalable, and secure system

• 15+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in leadership roles.
• 5+ years of experience in microservices and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong experience in full stack development.
• Demonstrated success in:
  • Building SaaS platforms
  • Transforming legacy systems to cloud-native solutions
  • Embedding AI/GenAI into enterprise platforms
• Experience working with AI/ML teams or leading AI-driven initiatives.
• Experience leading global/distributed teams and large-scale programs.

• Certifications in Cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP), Kubernetes, or DevOps (Nice to have)
• Experience in Supply Chain / Warehouse Management domains
• Strong exposure to event-driven architecture (Kafka).

• Strategic thinker with strong execution focus
• Hands-on leader who can dive deep into technology when needed
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, product-driven environment
• Passion for building scalable, high-quality full stack applications.
