About The Role

We provide our clients with a comprehensive view of strategic communications that leverages our integrated suite of services, including public affairs, corporate reputation and ESG and sustainability not only in Brussels but in all the major markets around the world.

FTI Consulting Brussels is looking for a Consultant to join our Energy & Industrials team. If you are looking to work in a dynamic and thriving sector team that crosses multiple issues, then this is the position for you.

As a Consultant you will work on, and be responsible for different client accounts, support senior colleagues in building new business opportunities and be involved in general day-to-day support of operations. Responsibilities in this role include:

What You’ll Do

Deliver to clients: Leading and organising day-to-day client work, monitor policy and regulatory developments for client files; gather intelligence; draft reports and provide in-depth analysis on policy developments and interpret their commercial implications on the business of your clients; write reports on research, both on general and specific subjects; work on strategic input; use AI strategically. Project management / account management and event organisation.

Build the business: Help develop practice and wider marketing initiatives and thought leadership to positively position the firm and practice in the market; drive client programmes forward with day-to-day support of operations.

Team involvement: Work alongside senior colleagues on building development activities such as pitch preparation and delivery.

Networking: Build relationships in the industry through networks with EU contacts and stakeholders as well as potential clients. 

Grow the team: Support growing the team with your ideas, your creativity, your curiosity, your positive energy and drive.

How You'll Grow

You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and fascinating public policy issues currently being tackled in Europe and globally, advising a broad range of clients in the Energy & Industrials sector. You will be part of a dynamic and multinational team of experts based in Brussels and you will learn about our broader service offerings from our international professionals in strategic communications, economic consulting, corporate finance, forensic litigation consulting and technology.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience providing strategic counsel to clients / stakeholders on public affairs and communications strategy

  • Proven skills and/or interest in public affairs, advocacy, issues and reputation management

  • Strong research, analytical and writing and communications skills

  • Ability to digest and summarise information to key internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to work on several projects at the same time and managing conflicting priorities

  • Effectively prepare meetings to drive purpose and objectives

  • Proactively seek to grow client relationships

  • Excellent English with one or two additional European languages preferable

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferably experience in utilities, energy users such as data centres and / or broader energy expertise (from oil and gas to renewables)

  • Starting to establish mentoring relationships with leaders and developing longer-term career goals

  • Great team spirit, determination, curiosity and humour

  • Self-starter mentality and willingness to roll up sleeves

  • Recognises where other practices/ departments across FTI may add value to client/internal projects

  • Identifies potential compliance risks and takes appropriate action

  • Proactively supports firm-wide strategies
