Accountable for managing, planning, organizing, and reviewing activities and functions of the emergency medical services department. Responsible for development and modification of the emergency preparedness plan and other Joint Commission activities.
Responsibilities
The Director of Emergency Medical Services is responsible for providing ongoing managerial leadership in tandem with the hospital’s values and goals. The Director of Emergency Medical Services is also responsible for demonstrating a commitment to the values of the corporation through active participation in Customer Service and Continuous Quality Improvement programs. Recruit, train, motivate and evaluate a staff of skilled emergency medical professionals. Plan and manage the development and delivery of training and educational programs for all departmental staff. Provide ongoing leadership and motivation. Communicate orally and in writing with all staff levels to provide understanding and ownership of departmental goals and objectives. Manage the development of department annual operating expenses. Develop routine tracking and reporting mechanisms to provide ongoing status of budget performance in the department. Responsible for directing activities in the Emergency Medical Services Department. Confer with and advise staff on matters of policies and procedures. Monitor and maintain policies, procedures, and standards related to IS.
QualificationsEducation:
Required: Bachelor's degree.
Experience:
Required: Experience in management in related field and strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred: 5 years of experience in emergency medical services.
Certifications:
Required: State paramedic. NR EMT-P within 6 months of starting job. AHA BLS, ACLS & PALS.
