Job Description

SUMMARY

The Director / Sr. Director of the Digital Office is a strategic and operational leader responsible for establishing and running the organization's digital program office. Reporting directly to the CIO, this role serves as the execution engine for the enterprise digital agenda — translating vision into structured programs, governance, and measurable outcomes. The Senior Director acts as a trusted partner to the CIO and a key connector between IT and the business.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the design and operations of the Digital Office, including portfolio management, digital program delivery, and governance processes.
  • Work closely with the CIO to develop and communicate the digital roadmap, ensuring initiatives are prioritized, resourced, and tracked against strategic objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of coordination across business units, ensuring digital programs are aligned with functional needs and delivered with minimal friction.
  • Establish intake, prioritization, and reporting frameworks that give leadership visibility into the health and progress of the digital portfolio.
  • Drive adoption of agile and product-oriented delivery practices, coaching teams and stakeholders on new ways of working.
  • Lead change management efforts associated with major digital initiatives, ensuring that technology investments translate into sustained behavioral and process change across the organization.
  • Manage relationships with strategic vendors and technology partners, support business case development for new investments, and represent the Digital Office in executive and cross-functional forums.
  • Other duties as assigned
Note: This position is scoped to support hiring at either the Director or Senior Director level. Final leveling will be based on experience, leadership breadth, and alignment with business needs.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Degree:  Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Special Certification or Licensing:  PMP or similar certifications are a plus.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum experience: 10+ years of experience in digital transformation, IT strategy, program management, or a related field, with at least 5–7 years in a leadership role.
  • Legal Age Requirements:  At least 18 years of age
  • Experience operating within or closely alongside a CIO organization is strongly preferred.
  • A solid understanding of enterprise technology domains — including cloud, data and analytics, automation, and digital products

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong business‑to‑technology translation skills, enabling alignment between strategic priorities and technical execution.
  • Expertise in program and portfolio management, change management, governance design, and cross‑functional leadership.

LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES

  • Credible & Collaborative Leadership – Builds trust and credibility across IT and business functions through strong partnerships and transparent communication.
  • Influence Without Authority – Effectively influences senior leaders and stakeholders in a matrixed organization without direct reporting relationships.
  • Enterprise Mindset – Operates successfully in a fast‑moving, complex environment, balancing competing priorities while maintaining strategic focus.
  • Organizational Clarity & Structure – Brings structure and clarity to ambiguous or complex situations without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Change Leadership – Energized by driving organizational change and enabling teams to adopt new ways of working that deliver sustainable results.
