Director of Development, Easterseals Hawaii

To be successful in this role, this person will be someone who has been successful in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, closing and stewarding corporate relationships, foundations and major donors at the $6-7+ figure gift level. Often, the Director of Development ESH will be expected to lead cross functional teams in planning initiatives, and successfully develop proposals creatively and financially, while playing a positive role in developing new donor acquisition, retention and growth within their portfolio. The Director of Development ESH oversees key operational initiatives, and reports directly to the VP of Development, requiring routine travel across multiple work sites, neighboring islands, and external venues to lead donor meetings and drive regional engagement.

Essential Job Functions

• Engage in and be responsible for all aspects of the donor development cycle, including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement, foundation partnership and stewardship.
• Establish and maintain productive, professional relationships with key personnel internally and externally with prospective and current donors and the community at large.
• Lead the strategy, planning, execution, and evaluation of Easterseals Hawaii fundraising events, donor cultivation experiences, and sponsorship activations, including managing event budgets, vendors, and revenue goals.
• Manage the Easterseals Hawaii development budget, including revenue forecasting, expense tracking, and regular reporting on progress toward annual goals.
• Coordinate the involvement of Catalight personnel, including support, service, programmatic and management resources, in order to meet funded program objectives and donor expectations.
• Meet and exceed assigned revenue targets and strategic objectives.
• Use skills and professional experience to drive funding and collaboration for Easterseals Hawaii mission priorities, creatively and strategically.
• Proactively assess, clarify and validate donors’ interests matched with the organization’s priorities and capabilities on a regular basis.
• Lead solution development efforts that best address a donor’s interests while meeting the mission priorities and capabilities of the organization in coordination and involvement of all necessary staff, staff leadership and volunteers.
• Manage a portfolio of individual/corporate/foundation donors/prospects in support of the organization’s mission, ongoing operations and strategic initiatives, with a focus on proactively identifying and engaging new high-net-worth donors, corporations and foundations. 
• Track all contacts and activity in the organization’s CRM.
• Connect and engage with high-net-worth individuals, corporations and foundations that have the capacity and history of giving at the $6-7+ figure level. 
• Collaborate and use all available internal connection points including Board Members and leadership to identify and approach new prospects.
• Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

 Minimum Education, Experience & Training Equivalent to:

• 9 years in business development and fundraising, including annual giving, prospecting, cultivation, proposal development, stewardship practices and working with Board members.  
• Demonstrated results in identifying, cultivating, closing and stewarding $6-7+ figure gifts.
• Experience in building relationships and converting them into long-term donor relationships. 
• Experience in use of moves management or equivalent donor cycle system.
• Experience managing budgets and achieving fundraising or revenue targets.

• Frequent speaking and listening (25-75%) to donors, clients, staff, and others in the workplace.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.), especially PowerPoint and related computer software.
• Works a flexible schedule as necessary, including additional weekend or evening hours for special events or deadlines.
• Ability to lift, carry, and transport event and office materials up to 25 pounds. 
• Travel requirement throughout Oahu and neighboring islands/the mainland as needed.

Conditions of Employment

• Ability to obtain and maintain criminal record clearance through the Department of Justice (DOJ). The People & Performance Department must analyze DOJ/FBI live scan reports in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as fitness for the position.
• Ability to obtain and maintain clearance through the Office of Inspector General.
• Able to travel to multiple work sites. Reliable transportation needed.
• Must attend any required training.
