OnSemi is seeking a Director of WBG (GaN) Driver Design, NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, Power Management, to join our growing team in Bengaluru, India. This group is responsible for development of Power management products including DC-DC PMIC/POL, Multiphase controllers, Dr. MOS, AC-DC converters, LED drivers, SiC drivers, Switches and efuses for consumer, industrial and automotive applications. In this role, you will hire and lead a high-performing team of 10 - 12 engineers in the development of next-generation Wide Bandgap (GaN) driver ICs. This leadership role is pivotal in driving multi-product execution in parallel, ensuring innovation, quality, and timely delivery of advanced power management solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentor, inspire, and grow a diverse team of analog/mixed-signal IC design engineers
- Assign projects, provide technical guidance, and oversee execution across multiple products simultaneously
- Actively participate in hiring, talent development, and career progression planning
- Lead architecture and circuit design of GaN driver ICs for high-speed, high-efficiency power conversion
- Define IP serving multiple products for efficiency reuse and develop these with quality to meet the market need
- Ensure robust design methodologies for WBG devices, addressing challenges such as high dV/dt immunity, EMI mitigation, and fast switching
- Work with and provide guidance to physical designers and monitor the progress of IC layout
- Oversee design verification, silicon evaluation, and production release
- Develop schedules, resource plans, and track execution across multiple concurrent projects
- Evaluate intermediate and final project results to ensure technical objectives are met
- Provide full clarity to the team on goals, milestones, and deliverables
- Work closely with systems engineers, applications engineers, and marketing to define product requirements and roadmap
- Collaborate with validation, product engineering, and test engineering teams to ensure smooth transfer to production
- Interface with customers and field teams to understand requirements, resolve issues, and provide technical support
- Drive new concept creation and contribute to long-term roadmap formulation for GaN driver technologies
- Define and enforce IP quality standards for industrial and automotive-grade products
- Champion best practices in design, verification, and reliability for WBG devices.

QualificationsMinimum Requirements
- Education: BS in Electrical Engineering or related 16 and above years of experience, or MS 14 and above years of experience
- Experience: Proven track record in GaN driver IC design and successful release of complex analog/mixed-signal ICs to market
Qualifications
- Deep expertise in GaN and SiC driver architectures, high-speed switching, and power transistor design
- Strong knowledge of power converter topologies (Buck, Boost, LDOs, multiphase controllers, smart power stages)
- Hands-on experience with analog IC design, debugging complex silicon issues, and bench validation
- Familiarity with advanced Bipolar, CMOS, and HV BCD technologies, process/device physics, and semiconductor manufacturing
- Proficiency in design and verification tools (Simplis, MATLAB, Cadence Spectre, etc.)
- Ability to simplify complex problems, drive results, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a focus on execution excellence
