We are seeking candidates with strategic insight, strong relationship skills, and a commitment to creating exceptional learning experiences. The Director oversees the full lifecycle of custom programs, from needs assessment through delivery and evaluation.

  • Client & Partnership Management (25%): Serve as the primary client contact, conducting needs assessments, co-developing proposals, and managing long-term, multi-year strategic accounts. You will coordinate with CMU Corporate Relations to connect clients with relevant university research and talent.

  • Program Design & Delivery Excellence (25%): Collaborate with faculty and instructional designers to co-design evidence-based curricula. You will oversee delivery logistics, operations, and robust evaluation, ensuring compliance and implementing innovative formats like applied labs and simulations.

  • Financial & Team Oversight (25%): Manage program budgets and financial operations (invoicing, forecasting). You will also supervise and mentor program managers and coordinators, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

Adaptability, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within Carnegie Mellon University. We are in search of a team member who can effectively interact with a varied population of internal and external partners at a high level of integrity. We are looking for someone who shares our values and who will support the mission of the university through their work.

You should demonstrate:

  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills.

  • Track record of supporting long-term strategic accounts or enterprise-level engagements.

  • Proven success managing complex or multi-stakeholder programs.

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed or cross-functional environment.

Nice to have skills: We value candidates with Relevant Sector Experience in higher education, corporate learning, or professional services. Familiarity with Learning Model Knowledge, including adult learning principles and digital/hybrid delivery models, is a plus. We also look for Client Focus, such as experience serving public-sector, nonprofit, or regulated-industry clients, and proficiency with CRM/project-management tools.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, public policy, education, or a related field. A Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

  • Experience: 5–8 years of professional experience in executive education, corporate learning, consulting, or related fields, including experience in business development, partnership management, and financial/operational management.
