Join our team as the Director of Corporate Programs in the Heinz College - Executive Education! You will be a key leader supporting the continued growth of our executive education portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to design, develop, and deliver custom executive education programs for partners across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. The Director ensures all programs reflect our high standards of academic quality, innovation, and service.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Executive Education, you will collaborate with internal teams—including faculty, marketing, and operations—to expand the College’s reach and strengthen partnerships with organizational clients. We are seeking candidates with strategic insight, strong relationship skills, and a commitment to creating exceptional learning experiences. The Director oversees the full lifecycle of custom programs, from needs assessment through delivery and evaluation.
Core responsibilities include:
The Director leads four critical areas for the Executive Education program:
Strategic Growth & Market Development (25%): Identify market opportunities, build a strong pipeline of partnerships, and represent Heinz Executive Education through thought leadership and client engagement strategies.
Client & Partnership Management (25%): Serve as the primary client contact, conducting needs assessments, co-developing proposals, and managing long-term, multi-year strategic accounts. You will coordinate with CMU Corporate Relations to connect clients with relevant university research and talent.
Program Design & Delivery Excellence (25%): Collaborate with faculty and instructional designers to co-design evidence-based curricula. You will oversee delivery logistics, operations, and robust evaluation, ensuring compliance and implementing innovative formats like applied labs and simulations.
Financial & Team Oversight (25%): Manage program budgets and financial operations (invoicing, forecasting). You will also supervise and mentor program managers and coordinators, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

Nice to have skills: We value candidates with Relevant Sector Experience in higher education, corporate learning, or professional services. Familiarity with Learning Model Knowledge, including adult learning principles and digital/hybrid delivery models, is a plus. We also look for Client Focus, such as experience serving public-sector, nonprofit, or regulated-industry clients, and proficiency with CRM/project-management tools.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, public policy, education, or a related field. A Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
Experience: 5–8 years of professional experience in executive education, corporate learning, consulting, or related fields, including experience in business development, partnership management, and financial/operational management.
Requirement:
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity. Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
Work Posture: This position is operating on a hybrid schedule, with an on-campus/in-office presence 3 days a week.
Typical Work Schedule: Monday-Friday from 8:30 am.-5:00 pm. An alternate work schedule allowing for evening and weekend hours will be required on occasion.
Travel Requirements: You should be able to travel both domestically and internationally and be willing to work outside normal business hours as needed.
