The Role
Lead Navan’s domestic and global M&A strategy, execution, deal modeling, investment partnerships, and post-merger integration. Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to evaluate complex business opportunities, support executive and board decisions, refine competitive intelligence, and build the Corporate Development function. Responsibilities include valuation, synergy, growth and funding analysis, minority investment execution, PMI playbooks, and team development.
Summary Generated by Built In

Within Navan, Corporate Development is a small, nimble, “SEAL Team Six” at the center of driving and executing our M&A strategy.  Outside of M&A, we are often brought in on the most complex issues the company faces because we bring a structured, analytical approach to how best to proceed and deploy our resources.  The ideal candidate is excited to work with a variety of internal and external teams to tackle Navan’s trickiest and most interesting problems.

  • Corporate Development is a fast moving, hyper-analytical team excited to move the needle at Navan and for travelers everywhere.
  • Deep down, we’re truth-seeking, committed to making a difference, and want to work with super bright, high integrity people to do it.
  • The end goal is meaningful work–scaling a world changing company–while building meaningful relationships.

What You’ll Do:

  • Drive our strategy, execution, and deal implementation for domestic and increasingly global M&A.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to identify, structure, quantify, and answer complex business problems to help inform executive and board decisions.
  • Develop relationships with leaders in product, finance, sales, and operations to understand their business needs and how M&A could help.
  • Work closely with our partnership team to refine our long-term plan by partner, identify where we might want to take minority positions, and drive investment execution.
  • Build deal-related models, including valuation, synergies, growth, and funding options.
  • Create and implement PMI playbooks to maximize value post acquisition.
  • Refine and monitor our competitive landscape.
  • Help build out a world-class Corporate Development team from the ground up.

What We're Looking for:

  • You’re an owner with a strong bias for action. You own the work you’re driving, end to end. You like to dive into details and ensure things run smoothly. Your true north is shaping our category by adding value for our customers; if you’re thrilled at the prospect of doing this, this role will be a great fit for you!
  • You are super analytical, structured, and can break down complex problems into simple components. You are a black belt in Excel/Google Sheets, but are equally comfortable laying things out on the whiteboard or in slides.
  • You have exceptional communication skills, business judgment, and the ability to tell compelling data-driven stories to senior leaders, including our C-suite and Board.
  • You gravitate toward people and enjoy working in a highly cross-functional role. You can help engineering resolve a technical question in the morning, work with FP&A on a model in the afternoon, and negotiate a deal structure in the evening.
  • You are very comfortable either modeling and structuring complex deals or driving cross-functional integration efforts after closing. A spike in at least one of these is preferred, while the other can be developed on the job.
  • You have 6+ years in a comparable work environment—with evidence of high performance—including Banking, Consulting, Product Management, or VC/PE. Experience in another high-growth tech company is a plus, but not required.
The posted pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the compensation for this position and is subject to change based on business need. To determine a successful candidate’s starting pay, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location, an evaluation of the candidate’s skills and experience, market demands, and internal parity.
For roles with on-target-earnings (OTE), the pay range includes both base salary and target incentive compensation. Target incentive compensation for some roles may include a ramping draw period. Compensation is higher for those who exceed targets. Candidates may receive more information from the recruiter.
Pay Range
$167,400—$372,000 USD
