Director, Corporate Business Applications

The Director, Corporate Business Applications serves as the accountable leader for the enterprise platforms supporting People, Finance, Accounting, and Treasury operations — anchored in Workday and extending across Baldwin’s broader corporate systems landscape.
This leader will ensure our platforms operate with reliability, discipline, and agility while advancing through continuous improvement, intelligent automation, and scalable operational excellence. The role partners closely with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and strategic vendors to align technology operations with enterprise priorities, SOX compliance, and growth through acquisition.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Enterprise Platform Leadership
- Lead the operational health, performance, governance, and continuous improvement of Baldwin’s HR, Finance, Accounting, and Treasury platforms.
- Own release management, environment governance, change control, and platform stability across Workday and related enterprise applications.
- Drive scalable support operations through a tiered service model leveraging business super users, internal teams, and strategic vendor partners.
- Ensure operational readiness and smooth transition of projects from implementation into steady-state support.
HR, Finance & Treasury Platform Operations
- Lead the configuration, optimization, and support of Workday HCM and Workday Financials, including integrations and reporting capabilities.
- Partner with HR and Finance leadership to advance automation, analytics modernization, AI-enabled experiences, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure platform reliability supporting payroll, financial close, SEC reporting, reconciliations, treasury operations, and SOX controls.
- Maintain strong governance around data integrity, security, audit readiness, and role-based access controls.
Integration, M&A & Data Strategy
- Lead platform integration activities for acquired organizations, ensuring scalable onboarding and operational consistency.
- Champion data quality, master data governance, and enterprise reporting enablement.
Vendor, Team & Operational Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing team across functional, technical, and platform operations disciplines.
- Manage strategic vendor relationships, including SLAs, roadmap alignment, escalations, and contract governance.
- Build scalable operating models, documentation standards, training programs, and knowledge management practices that enable colleague self-service and operational excellence.
Risk, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure enterprise application operations align with SOX, audit, security, and public-company governance requirements.
- Partner closely with Information Security, Finance, Accounting, and Internal Audit leadership to maintain strong controls and compliance posture.
- Drive disciplined demand management, backlog prioritization, operational KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives across the platform portfolio.
- Lead the evolution of AI and intelligent automation capabilities across corporate systems to improve colleague and business outcomes.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise applications, corporate systems, or business technology operations.
- 10+ years leading complex enterprise platforms supporting HR, Finance, Accounting, and Treasury functions.
- Deep experience with Workday HCM and Workday Financials, including platform operations, integrations, governance, and release management.
- Demonstrated success leading teams across functional, technical, and operational disciplines within a scaled enterprise environment.
- Experience operating within a publicly traded company environment, including SOX compliance, audit readiness, SEC-reporting support, and public-company governance standards.
- Proven experience supporting HR, Finance, and Accounting organizations in complex, regulated environments.
- Strong background managing strategic vendor relationships, outsourced support models, and multi-partner delivery ecosystems.
- Experience leading technology integration efforts related to mergers and acquisitions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through growth, ambiguity, and transformation while aligning teams to a shared vision and operating rhythm.
