Job Summary:
The Director, Channel Intelligence & Strategy will drive market intelligence across all retail channels to better inform future innovation / category decisions for the company by analyzing total store, category and competitive trends. This position will help collaborate with sales to guide channel strategy for the Tyson Foods’ brands, ensuring growth of our strategic grocery and club customers in shaping a long-term strategy. This leadership will include co-creating Sales strategy for every retail channel while also assisting in delivering the full bundle of customer specific selling stories for all Tyson Foods innovations. This role will also provide a holistic view of total store / consumer changes to identify future opportunities for Tyson Foods and co-creating a 1-3 year strategic road map. Will support the Field Sales teams as well as the Tyson business units.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be a leader in driving business decisions based on market data, establishing key drivers and providing “call to action” recommendations for future growth
- Use insights from channel intelligence and scenario planning to test Tyson Foods’ strategies and ensure future success
- Master “story telling” and engaging communication while turning data and information into strategy, actionable insights and business recommendations
- Drive the culture of foresight within the organization to anticipate future momentum of the marketplace both short & long term
- Champion synthesis of multiple first party and syndicated information and data points such as Scintilla, Madrid, 8451, IRI, Nielsen, Technomic, NPD Supply Track, NET, Mintel etc., and translate them into insights to fill the knowledge gap. Foster the culture to leverage data and deliver unique insights.
- Have robust understanding of Customer Gateways while utilizing them into MarTech solution related to media, loyalty & target audience (CDPs)
- Collaborate with cross functional teams such as Sales, Brand Managers, Marketing, and Business Unit Stakeholders to establish alignment on Channel strategy
- Represent Tyson Foods’ Category and Marketing Analytics team in professional organizations and meetings
Education: BA/BS required in Business or related field (Masters preferred).
Work Experience: 10+ years of experience in Category Management, Consumer Insights and/or Corporate Strategy. Food industry experience a plus.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification:
Special Job Competencies:
- Understand consumer-based market structures (consumer need state landscape).
- Volumetric forecasting, market share forecasting.
- Deep knowledge of Nielsen/IRI POS and Panel household data.
- Data mining with Luminate, IRI, Nielsen, NPD Supply Track, Kantar, Mintel etc. syndicated tools.
- Deep working knowledge of Customer data portals.
- Causal analysis and due-to analysis on in-market drivers.
- Understand Pricing architecture, Elasticities, price gaps and optimal price curves.
- Distribution estimates, velocity forecast for innovation estimates.
- Demonstrated ability to build advocacy for strategy and analytics in an organization.
- Equally comfortable contributing and influencing in group or individual assignments.
- Open-minded, flexible, autonomous, and capable of leading cross-functional discussions.
- Client-side work in CPG preferred.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to tailor communication style to various influencers and stakeholders. Will have direct relationship with VPs and General Managers across several businesses.
