Director, Business Development (M&A)
US based – Miami Hybrid 3 days onsite per week with travel as necessary
Role Overview
World Kinect is accelerating growth in its core operations—and we’re seeking a visionary leader to help expand our global footprint across our three operating segments, Marine, Aviation and Land. As Director of Business Development, you will identify, evaluate and execute on acquisition and new commercial opportunities that reshape how we serve customers across all 3 segments.
This is a high-impact role for a strategic builder with the commercial acumen and M&A expertise to turn market opportunities into scalable businesses. Liaise with corporate leadership to identify and execute on opportunities in key growth areas.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Strategic Transactions & Partnerships
- Source, assess, evaluate and execute strategic M&A, joint ventures, and partnership opportunities that advance World Kinect’s global fuels business.
- Identify and prioritize new business expansion/acquisitions that align with World Kinect’s growth objectives.
- Develop business cases and financial models to support investment decisions.
- Lead the end-to-end process of acquiring and integrating new businesses—from concept validation to commercialization and scaling.
- Establish KPIs and success metrics for new acquisitions, ensuring rapid integration and performance tracking.
- Build relationships with industry operators, technology innovators, suppliers, and financial partners to strengthen our pipeline of opportunities.
Partnership Development
- Build strategic alliances with industry players, technology providers, and investment partners to accelerate growth.
- Negotiate and structure partnership agreements that enable speed-to-market and competitive advantage.
Cross-Functional Execution
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Operations, and Commercial teams to ensure seamless execution of M&A transactions and new business initiatives.
- Influence senior stakeholders and secure buy-in for strategic investments and resource allocation.
- Effectively articulate and communicate the strategic rationale and investment thesis for new business initiatives to the organization, and senior stakeholders.
Key Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in M&A or corporate finance environments, including deal evaluation, financial modeling, due diligence, and integration.
- Experience working within corporate development, business development, commercial leadership, or innovation roles, with a focus on new market entry and business creation.
- Background in global transportation and/or energy and fuels distribution.
- Strong commercial acumen with P&L responsibility and experience in building sustainable revenue models.
- Exceptional leadership presence, negotiation skills, and ability to influence at all levels.
