Job Summary

Reporting to the VP, Commercial Business Development, the Director, Business Development – Atlantic Canada is responsible for leading residential and commercial growth across the Atlantic provinces.
This leadership role offers an experienced real estate lawyer the opportunity to leverage their legal expertise, industry relationships, and market knowledge to help shape the growth and strategic direction of Stewart Title across Atlantic Canada.
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to law firms, lenders, developers, and real estate stakeholders, while helping deliver innovative title insurance solutions in an evolving marketplace. This position provides a unique opportunity to branch away from private practice but remain connected to the legal and real estate community.
The position is home-office based but requires frequent in-person client and prospect meetings and is expected to be based in Halifax, Fredericton, or Moncton.
Practicing real estate lawyers will be preferred candidates.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build and strengthen relationships with leading law firms, lenders, developers, and industry participants throughout Atlantic Canada.
  • Apply real estate law expertise in a strategic leadership capacity.
  • Serve as a recognized subject matter expert on title insurance.
  • Influence Stewart Title’s business strategy and market growth.
  • Lead and support the activities of business development team members.
  • Represent Stewart Title at industry events & conferences.
  • Other duties as required or assigned 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in real estate, title insurance, or lending
  • Strong understanding of real estate law, closing processes, and title insurance products
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Atlantic Canada
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Travel and In-Office Expectations

  • This is a home-office-based position, with the expectation that the Director will spend appx three to four days per week conducting external meetings.
  • Some client meetings, industry events, and conferences will require overnight travel across the four Atlantic provinces.
  • Travel needs will depend on the successful candidate’s location but is expected to be appx four to six trips per year.
