About Condé Nast

Condé Nast is a global media company producing some of the world’s most influential content across digital, video, social, audio, and print. Our portfolio includes iconic brands such as Vogue, The New Yorker, GQ, Bon Appétit, Vanity Fair, WIRED, and Architectural Digest, reaching audiences around the world.

Our ambition is to shape the future of media by combining exceptional storytelling and brands with innovation, new business models, and strategic partnerships.

Position Overview

Condé Nast is seeking a strategic, commercially minded Director of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships to identify, structure, execute, and grow partnerships that drive revenue, audience, subscription, and strategic value across our portfolio.

This role will own partnerships end to end- from identifying opportunities and developing the business case through negotiation, contracting, launch, performance management, optimization, and renewal or expansion.

The ideal candidate is both a dealmaker and an operator: someone who can identify compelling opportunities, build the financial and strategic rationale, negotiate complex agreements, and then work cross-functionally to ensure those partnerships deliver against their objectives.

This person will operate with significant autonomy and work closely with senior stakeholders across Condé Nast, including Consumer Revenue, Content, Product, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and our brands.

Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Deal Execution
  • Identify, develop, and prioritize new partnership opportunities that drive revenue, subscriber growth, audience growth, distribution, engagement, and other strategic objectives.

  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective partners across relevant categories, platforms, and emerging business models.

  • Develop business cases and financial models to evaluate partnership economics, strategic value, risks, and potential upside.

  • Lead partnership discussions from initial outreach and opportunity development through negotiation and close.

  • Structure and negotiate commercial terms, including economics, distribution, marketing commitments, data and measurement, performance obligations, and other key deal components.

  • Partner closely with Legal, Finance, Product, Marketing, Content, and other stakeholders to move opportunities efficiently from concept to signed agreement.

  • Prepare recommendations, scenario analyses, and executive materials to support senior-level decision-making.

Partnership Launch & Management
  • Own the transition from signed agreement to launch, ensuring clear accountability, timelines, deliverables, and success metrics across internal and external teams.

  • Serve as a senior day-to-day commercial partner to key strategic relationships.

  • Establish clear partner and business KPIs and develop operating cadences to track performance against agreed objectives.

  • Monitor partnership performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve economics, execution, audience impact, and partner value.

  • Drive accountability across internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure contractual commitments and business objectives are met.

  • Identify opportunities to expand successful partnerships into new brands, products, markets, channels, or commercial models.

  • Lead renewal and renegotiation strategies based on performance, evolving business priorities, and market dynamics.

Strategy & Market Development
  • Develop perspectives on emerging partnership opportunities, business models, platforms, technologies, and consumer behaviors that could create value for Condé Nast.

  • Monitor the competitive landscape and identify shifts that could create new opportunities or risks.

  • Translate market insights into actionable partnership strategies and specific business development opportunities.

  • Contribute to the broader Business Development & Strategic Partnerships roadmap and prioritization of opportunities across the Condé Nast portfolio.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience , with 5+ in business development, strategic partnerships, corporate development, management consulting, digital media, technology, entertainment, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience owning complex commercial deals from opportunity identification through negotiation, execution, and ongoing management.

  • Strong commercial judgment and a track record of structuring partnerships that create measurable business value.

  • Excellent negotiation skills and comfort navigating complex agreements involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

  • Strong financial and analytical capabilities, including experience building financial models, evaluating deal economics, and developing scenario analyses.

  • Ability to translate data and partnership performance into clear recommendations and actions.

  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, with the ability to develop compelling recommendations and influence senior internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and the ability to drive execution without relying on direct authority.

  • Experience working in media, entertainment, technology, subscription, consumer, or platform businesses strongly preferred.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with significant autonomy and ambiguity.

  • MBA/JDpreferred

What Success Looks Like

The successful candidate will:

  • Build a high-quality pipeline of strategic partnership opportunities aligned with Condé Nast’s growth priorities.

  • Independently move opportunities from initial concept through business case, negotiation, contracting, and launch.

  • Structure partnerships with compelling economics and clear strategic value.

  • Establish rigorous KPIs and operating cadences for active partnerships.

  • Proactively identify and resolve performance issues rather than simply reporting them.

  • Grow the value of existing partnerships through optimization, expansion, and renewal.

  • Become a trusted partner to senior internal stakeholders and external partners.

  • Bring a strong sense of ownership and urgency-high tolerance for ambiguity, low tolerance for inefficiency.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $150,000 - $165,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
