About BAO Consulting LLC

In 2021, we started BAO Consulting Group because we saw an opportunity to redefine the consulting model through our diverse experience, versatile capabilities, and extensive networks. From high-stakes challenges to day-to-day relationships, we strive to make an impact by providing practical and effective advice that helps you reach your goals–and solve your problems–quickly and efficiently.

We provide comprehensive Accounting, Finance and Transaction Advisory services, offering strategic expertise and tailored solutions to address complex business needs. Our clients rely on us for trusted guidance and informed decision-making across all stages of their business lifecycle.

About the role

BAO Consulting Group is looking for a Director, Business Transformation to lead our growing practice at the intersection of finance, technology, data, and process. This is a senior, client-facing role for an operator who can sit shoulder-to-shoulder with CFOs and finance leaders to modernize how their finance functions run — from ERP and systems strategy, to FP&A and performance visibility, to close transformation and intelligent automation.

Today's environment requires businesses to rapidly address dynamic conditions to optimize earnings and cash. Our Business Transformation practice helps middle-market and PE-backed organizations improve business performance, align the operating model for growth, and execute on strategic objectives — with functional leadership, technical depth, and proprietary tools that target the core operational and financial performance drivers.

Directors at BAO don't manage from a distance. You'll own a portfolio of transformation engagements, lead multidisciplinary teams across finance, IT, and operations, and play an active role in building the next chapter of our firm alongside our founding leadership team. You'll also help shape BAO's Business Transformation offering — defining the methodologies, IP, and go-to-market that set the practice apart.

What you'll do

Engagement leadership & delivery

  • Serve as the senior-most day-to-day leader on complex Business Transformation engagements spanning ERP strategy, finance systems rationalization, FP&A enablement, close transformation, and process automation
  • Lead clients through the full lifecycle of finance technology programs — current-state diagnostics, future-state design, vendor selection, implementation oversight, and post-go-live optimization across platforms such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, Workday, Oracle, and SAP
  • Translate finance and accounting requirements into scalable systems architectures, automated workflows, and integrated reporting environments that improve speed, accuracy, and control
  • Oversee all aspects of engagement economics — scoping, pricing, staffing, budgeting, and invoicing — with full P&L accountability

FP&A, performance visibility & decision support

  • Performance visibility — deliver end-to-end reporting solutions for clients, inclusive of KPI/metric selection, back-end data architecture, and visualization dashboards in tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
  • Financial planning — help clients design forecasting and budgeting processes, implement planning technologies (e.g., Anaplan, OneStream, Vena, Planful, Workday Adaptive), and build long-range models
  • Interim FP&A — stand in for clients in interim FP&A leadership capacities during transitions, transactions, or capacity gaps
  • Decision support — deliver point-specific solutions including 13-week cash flow models, ROI and capital-allocation models, pricing analysis, revenue and profitability analysis, and organizational design

Process automation & intelligent operations

  • Lead discovery and deployment of process automation solutions, including RPA, workflow tools, and AI-enabled applications across record-to-report, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and FP&A
  • Apply data and analytics tooling — SQL, Alteryx, Python, and modern BI platforms — to expose insight, automate work, and build durable operating leverage inside the finance function
  • Develop IP and delivery frameworks for intelligent automation, including opportunity assessment tools, automation playbooks, and ROI models

Finance & technology subject-matter expertise

  • Apply deep functional expertise across controllership, FP&A, financial close, revenue recognition, audit readiness, and internal controls to inform system and process design
  • Advise clients on operating-model design, shared services, data governance, master data, and digital enablement strategies aligned to growth, exit, and compliance objectives
  • Bring working knowledge of the broader finance technology stack — including consolidations, planning, close management, AP automation, and analytics tools (e.g., BlackLine, OneStream, Anaplan, Coupa, Power BI) — to inform integrated solutions

Practice leadership & innovation

  • Lead the continued buildout of BAO's Business Transformation offering, defining services around Finance Transformation, FP&A, ERP strategy, integration & carve-out, shared services optimization, and program & change management
  • Stay ahead of market trends in AI, RPA, workflow orchestration, and embedded analytics so BAO's offerings remain current and outcome-focused

Business development & market growth

  • Play an active role in new business development — referral cultivation, RFP responses, solution scoping, proposal development, and closing
  • Drive expansion of existing client relationships through proactive identification of transformation opportunities adjacent to ongoing engagements
  • Leverage your personal and professional network to generate leads and represent BAO in the marketplace through conferences, webinars, and thought leadership

People & team development

  • Recruit, develop, and retain talent at the Manager and Senior Manager levels; build a high-performing, accountable team culture
  • Serve as a people leader and culture carrier — mentoring consultants and managers across career development, delivery excellence, and client relationships
  • Lead internal training on finance transformation, FP&A enablement, automation strategy, and systems integration to build firmwide capability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, MIS, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's or MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience, preferably in a consulting or advisory role, corporate FP&A, finance transformation, or business operations
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex finance transformation programs across ERP strategy, systems implementation oversight, FP&A enablement, or business process redesign
  • Hands-on experience with one or more ERPs in the BAO middle-market stack: NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, Oracle, or SAP
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and working fluency in SQL, Alteryx, Python, or another analytics language
  • Working knowledge of automation tools and frameworks (e.g., UiPath, Power Automate, Automation Anywhere, Alteryx) and how to apply them within finance functions
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office; advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and finance, with the ability to conduct analysis of operational processes and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple large engagements simultaneously with full P&L accountability
  • Proven ability to advise and influence executive stakeholders, including CFOs, CIOs, and Controllers
  • Strong business development track record with an existing network in the middle-market, PE, or CFO advisory space
  • Outstanding leadership and communication skills; ability to inspire teams and operate as a trusted advisor at the executive level

Preferred qualifications

  • CPA, MBA, PMP, or systems certifications (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Workday, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)
  • Direct, hands-on experience designing and deploying automation at scale within a finance function
  • Big 4 Manager or Senior Manager background with successful transition to advisory or transformation consulting
  • Significant experience supporting PE-backed companies or private equity sponsors through systems maturity, carve-outs, integrations, or pre-exit transformation
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery, PMO best practices, and digital enablement roadmapping
  • Experience with cross-border systems, multi-entity consolidations, and international operations

Company benefits

  • Medical, Dental & Vision - comprehensive coverage for you and your dependents.
  • 401(k) with Employer Match - we invest in your future, not just your clients'.
